Hi,

I am going to be visiting sydney for the first time after easter weekend. I am keen to do some SUP both flat water and surf while I am there. I need to hire a SUP board so where can you hire in Sydney? and where do peole go for flatwater and surf? I am a learner who is not used to crowds, prefer surf and used to open ocean.

I am keen to demo surf SUP boards. I have been learning on a Coreban 9ft Fusion which I have found easy and very stable. It feels abit corky for my 60kg frame and my husband uses it any opportunity he gets so I am thinking of getting another board that has similar length but less volume. I have lots of fun playing in small to medium high surf. Where in Sydney can you demo and buy surf SUP Boards?

What wind direction works at the SUP spots in sydney?

Is anyone able and willingly to help me with some information?

Thanks

Not sure if you realise but Sydneys a BIGGGG place.......now if you are staying with your kiwi brothers in the eastern suburbs, you could go and see Belly in Rose Bay (OzSup) he can hire you a board I reckon, but if your staying elsewhere we can give you some other tips........

Also do you have wheels? I haven't tried it but SUPs on the trains don't normally work

And if you are in Sydney and Free on the 15th you could go to the Naish River Race..........top SUP day

Yep, depends which neck of the woods your staying, but if your north of the harbour here are a few option.

Sydney harbour - hire available, great views
http://sydneyscenicsup.com.au/

Narrabeen lagoon - great flat water location, lots of race boards to try
www.jamiesonparkpaddle.com.au/

Collaroy - lots of wave boards to demo and all round good guys
www.windsurfnsnow.com.au/

South of the Harbour, you'll need to speak to someone else

see now its easy you are staying in the shire!

You can hire at;

cronullasup.com.au/
Go see Todd or Thommy

not sure whether they do hire but you could also check out;

www.sutherlandshiresupschool.com.au/
speak to Peter

& www.eastcoaststanduppaddle.com.au/index.html
Speak to Lou

In the shire if you drive for 10 mins you will find water, Woronora, Grays Point, Audley and Port Hacking generally, be sure to check out the Bay Surf about a hour before low tide on as long a board as you care (I use my 14') and then you have Cronulla and the northern Wollongong beaches (less crowds especially mid week)

Hope to see you on the water!

Greg

Don't forget if you are near the Eastern Suburbs/City then go and see Oz Sup at Rose Bay. Sweet paddles on Sydney Harbour with Belly and his crew. Tell him I sent you! www.ozsup.com.au

Thanks for more info. It is great

Our teenage nieces who live in Syndey are keen to try standup paddle boarding so we hope to get them out on the water.

I have been looking at some sydney weather sites on the internet. Are there any particular websites that are good to look at as a guide to suitable weather conditions for SUP?

I hear you have been having some nice weather over there.

If the swell is decent enough tides don't come into it.
