Surf comps Vicco style
We scored some great waves....bit windy early in the day but it backed off a bit later on.
Of the 3 comps SUP Vic has put on, this is the smallest surf we've had
Hope everyone had fun....looking forward to the next one!!
As per ALWAYS sensational photo's Sean, Had Kid's duties (600km all up F--k kid's rep Hockey) Look's very blown out?? Lovely size and good shape, though you wouldn't want to go to close to the lip for fear of getting blown over the back of the wave? I'm sure some of the geniuses worked it all out however. Well done and just wait till I get my TSJ 'Zippy Board' so I can show you all how to fall off a board with grace and dignity whilst not catching a wave!!(Over 50's will understand that one.) (- It was a fat kid advertising a yellow plastic belly board)
Great photos - shows it like it was! Thanks to SUP Vic for putting on the comp on the Peninsula - hopefully next one will be a little less windy!

One of our over 50's finished up 3rd in the open men's....and caught what was probably the wave of the day in the final!!

I wonder who that was MJ??? ands if it was the wave of the day why didn't he win? Bloody ageist hoons the lot of you!! Probably had some young'uns like Sparx or Phill etc. judging
There were some great waves ridden on the day - especially during the final. Chris going left on the peak and getting out of a barrel was worth watching. About 1 min after the final concluded Brendan and Chris shared probably the biggest wave of the day.
Great day. Thanks to the organisers - in particular, Dean & Chris. You don't realise how much effort goes into organising these events until you do a few.
chris was unstoppable
mj and leon and the rest carved it up but this young grom was on fire
Wind!!! the wind wasn't the problem, it's the pink shirt I tell you. Pink shirts only work for lawyers over 58. Isn't that right Ross.
Personally I thought I surfed grovelled like a ....... actually I can't think of what I grovelled like, help me out leroy
Well done lads
Congrats to organisers and competitors
Looks like you all managed to drag some nuggets out of what was a freaking radical day up and down the coast.
How crazy was the wind in the morning? Moderate nor west then light sou east then moderate nor east then humping from the west nor west!!
And the swell!! Kinda suprised there wasnt more getting into Leo.
Local board club comp kicked off at Lonsdale back beach in waves that looked like Mexican Pipe. Low tide, eight plus death wedges with bombies going off all the way to Barwon Heads. Thank faaark they decided to run Juniors and Old Farts round the corner inside the bay...was sweating like a gypsy with a mortgage!!
Cheers

MJ the only Natural footer in the open mens final was cranking out some of the best bottom turns I have seen on a SUP.
Kristi getting some speed:
Looking at the pix reminds me how lucky we were. When I got there all I could think was how much the day would suck with
gusting 25kts offshore! I judged the second heat and even contemplated giving up my spot to keep judging.
But I decided to paddle out in heat 4 and even though the conditions were definitely tough early it was good to see The Point
breaking solid and sharing it with only a few good crew. I came back to the beach with a big smile you couldn't wipe off my face.
Then the wind dropped...What a day!
We were all stoked to get the Point to ourselves. Even though the wind was up, the line ups were epic and the bomb sets were just mad. The hardest thing of the day was not being able to go out between my heats. Once everyone left a couple of us had it to ourselves until e swell began to die. Epic day!
