Hey guys, the more I read and the more I see in here it is obvious that this sport is contagious!
I've met some sick puppies in my time but it is clear that i am right at home here....

Pretty much my first SUP session in a whilst was in junky on-shore 3-4' soup yesterday, but you know what - I had a ball. In fact the only way you could have enjoyed it was standing up, paddle in hand. Anyway I matched my commitment to the cause with this nice set of plates - hope you like 'em!

I am tainted though (industry based) but I will do my best to be a good boy and keep my contributions in the spirit of the forum - I know if I step out of line someone will whack me back anyway

So first up here are some new toys to droool over-

Welcome AA,

Yeah, with that number plate I think you are going to feel right at home here. This forum is full of eccentrics (I mean that in a friendly way). Good looking boards by the way. Can't tell from the photo but do they have deck grip or do you wax em up. I'll do a google on them now.

The new 10'6 looks nice Andrew, but it looks like it's designed for guys under 90kg the same as the 9'6. I wish it had another 20 litres. I might be biased being 100kg, but I think Oxbow and many of the other manufacturers have missed the market, assuming stand up paddlers are the same average size as surfers. I don't want another board that just happens to float me and surfs OK, I just want a board that was designed for me and surf well.

Keen to ride the 9'6" AA, I am going to come along on Thurs if thats cool. I'll bring all my toys also. Are you going to have someone filming? Camera? if not I'll bring so we can get some good images.

JB

Hey JB, I'll be there with the Casso Sucker Cam - you're welcome to suck that onto a board for a few waves. I'll also have a pretty good still camera for land shots - if I can bear to tear myself out of the water.

I'm predicting: 3 foot of SE swell with very light West to North winds next Thursday - perfect.

Hey JB just saw the 9'6 Oxbow, did not have enough time to go for a paddle, I was on the water and enticed Bevo out, but I had to be home by 3pm and Bevo turned up at 2.30. He was doing alright considering how much bump there was out there. I got nailed a beauty by big set, caught it but got eaten by the whitewater.

Very narrow pod on the 9'6 low volume.
Good thing is the 8'6 will be in Sydney by Monday, its in the back of the Merc.

I have another one in production now be ready next week, bit mote volume for me and it is white.

Hey Steve, I hear you. I think the bottom line is that it is very early days in this emerging sport. This was an almost non-existent market a year ago with only a handful of 'believers'.
Now all of a sudden it's catching on and manufacturers are playing catch up.
I personally know women who are Paddle Surfing on Mal's because they can't find boards small enough. Give it time and there will be rippers, all-rounders and ocean racers for every weight range!

Thanks for your response Andrew. I know PSH has some boards coming, but they look a long way off, the 10'6 x 30 looks promising, I guess I need about 170 litres. I was hoping for something in the new models coming out now.

That Laguna Bay epoxy looks interesting, is it a custom?
