Wow - some good surfers there
That would have to be close to 7 of the TOP 10 in OZ.
Stoked to see Kai get through. This could be his breakthrough event

Awesome work Aussie lads. Any video? Kai stepped it up a level or two last time I saw him.
Hope they don't all end up in heats together.

hey Jacinta surfed well and grabbed some great wavs. Keeping everyone pumped with enthusiasm.

Toby and Kai are shredding in their free surfs off to the side too. Love to have that much energy....

Big Dave Muir looked good out there. But so many little waves and not enough big ones for the carving legend....

Gonna be a cracking third round in the morning....

Jackson and Keahi just looked so dominate. Smooth.
The Aussie boys are all doing well.
Beau looking the goods and Geoff is pulling off some great moves. Cant wait to watch Justin surf tomorrow as I missed him today by the time we arrived from the plane...

Wow that video shows nothing I am still in shock these guys have such a lack of exposure and vids etc you would have thought a few years down the line they would have improved yet still lack of coverage .... A real shame as some amazing talent there and would love to see all the Aussies ripping plus the other guys

Thanks for the updates Casso!!! Are you over there for the Masters, good luck if you are!! I can't believe that they are allowed to put more than two people of the same nationality in one heat unless it's the final!!! Lets face if Kai Bates gets 9.2s but Keahi gets 9.3s and Jackson gets 9.4s he won't get through but is clearly a level above the other competitors!!!. Could you do a quick comparative? If our competitors got higher over all scores then there needs to be a system of protest!! Lets face it, and I keep on repeating it our top 6 men seem to be the top 6 men. Except for Kai Lenny. Zane Scweitzer, Mo De freitas Connor are clearly excellent, (as are our boys). Great stuff Casso, thanks again.

No mate, just getting up early and trying to follow the (not very good) coverage.

They are not publishing the heat scores so it'd be hard to do the comparative - but I reckon the Aussies are ripping (even the ones that have been eliminated) and would have gone better if the heat draw was different.

That sucks nearly as much as the reffing in a Melbourne Storm V any NSW NRL final/grand final or Rab Warrens unbiased calls in the State of Origin!!!!

The thing is one of them will end up winning but it's still not a fair reflection of their ability as anyone of them can win. They are that good because they compete against each over here.

(BTW sorry I got off topic. I do realise that Melbourne Storm is full of SICK Qlders and SICK International rep Kiwis. Imagine if they still had Inglis and Folau still playing for them?? . They'd have a chance this year then.

That's a bummer that all the Aussie boys are out they were surfing really well, but the standard across the board is pretty high too.

That leaves 15yo Ke'ale Dorries as the only Aussie left to represent through the finals! You go girl!!!

BTW as much as it sucks that 3 Aussies ended up in the same Rd 3 heat, I don't think we should read too much into it or start making calls about the draw being biased. First round heat draw was seeded based on current ranking leading into the event, and wild cards are fed into the remaining spots based on the trials results. From there i'm pretty sure its a standard format for progression through to the finals. (Its really no different to getting an all Aussie heat on the ASP - just a bit less likely because we don't have the same numbers on the SUWT yet).

YEW!!!!

GO KEALE DORRIES!!!

and only 15 yrs old!!! such a good future especially with Pete as her coach.

She would have to be the youngest aussie girl or any aussie girl to make it thru to this far in the surfing event.

Spoke to her last night and she is having a blast too
