go the grommet!!!!!!! he has been blowin up lately..
and good luck to justin holland as he is over that way too!!!!!
yewww
Does anyone have a link to updates on this event??? Stupid me can't find em and wanna know how Keahi is goin!
Found this sick shot on facebook of Keahi ripping it up over there - sounds like he pulled this one off too! Photo courtesy of Harry Wiewel.
Yeah waves where ordinary , but Keahi could challenge Kai Lenny for sure.Ive still got the image in my brain of him pulling into pits at Currumbin that day , ive only ever seen shorboarders hooting sups once , and that was that day.
Go Keahi. The only way Keahi doesn't make the finals of the main event is if he has a bad heat or is under scored. He has all the tools and vertical surfing to be one of the best plus style and not the ugly chopping stabbing that I see. just my humble opinion.
Aloha
Can enyone else get any sense out of the media coverage?
Heat draw is a pic of the board that I can't read
No posting of results
No video of complete waves
Info shortfall
SUWT I wanna be engaged but your not making it easy.
crappola coverage!
Rant over
Jason
Here is what I could find from facebook...trial finals had Keahi and Becker plus 2 others. Winner to be announced tonight. Started round 1 and 2 of main event and Keahi scored perfect 10 in round 1 and was leading round 2 against Kai Lenny. Think Justin got thru round one. On a countbaxk chuck Patterson was eliminated in round 1 and Hughes advanced. Sorry these are the bits I saw on facebook in Hawaii.
Aloha
Thanks Byron
I want to cheer on the competitors and show my support for
the organisers who have put their efforts and resources into
this event but their online side of things is keeping the masses
in the dark. This is obviously frustrating me.Their marketing dudes
should reassess.
Jason
sounds like keahi has been blowing up
and all you can get is this round is over
that heat is in the water f###k give us some real info
I know - pathetic coverage and updates. Even our little state titles comps have electronic judging and live scores posted directly to the net.
Step it up SUWT. [}:)]
Go the grom.
We were at Huntington Beach yesterday and watching Keahi was like watching 'poetry in motion'...they had a field of 64 trialist to get through including Candice Appleby, Slater Trout, Connor Baxter and so on. Keahi was recovering from the 'flu' and it great to watch him and Kieran Taylor in action. Justin Holland has a wildcard and will be surfing on Friday (California time)
Latest update from Keahi...
"Ended up having a really good day today. Managed to win the trials and score a 10 in one of my heats. Also managed to beat Kai Lenny in my last heat. Stoked!"
Congratulations on winning the trials and good luck for the rest of the comp.
Is it that they (waterman league) get paid for the rights and only let said people have it??? seems very anti development for a young sport, with alot of nay sayers from other water disciplines......Im stoked for all those going in it, Aussie or otherwise and great to see the skill and style progressing, But to me this SUWT is a joke and only for a select few, and not even for the punters, that at the end of the day, buy the product that keeps things like this going!
There's some pretty harsh statements flying around. At least their trying and giving it a go. Some of you should be aware that the ASP didn't start out perfect either, nor did most professional codes, so give them a chance to iron out the creases before writing them off. I give them the thumbs up for trying!
As I understand it anyone is free to go and do the trials - so it's up to anyone to put their hand up. Sport is still too small to have QS system etc - but it will hopefully get there.
They are also more than keen to host in good locations incl Oz - someone has to put forward the sponsorship to make it happen.
But they need to get their media sorted out otherwise it won't...
I think some of you are missing the main problem. Out of how many SUP'rs world wide actually compete in this? Out of the same amount of world wide SUP'rs would like to actually be able to see decent coverage and get results and info, without having to be a computer hacker?
Yes givin its early days, but its not early days for media/cyber coverage....and this is not their first or second year running the comps. Looking after the competitors is definitly one thing, but without us, the punters, it wont be much of a tour....
so obviously the red thumber thinks th media/cyber coverage is good enough.....hahaha classic seabreeze cheerleading. Get a leg rope up ya!
