Much safer than the main dam. Too many idiots in boats. We had the whole place to ourselves and never once got even close to a problem.
TBH I don't understand why its such a problem. What is so dangerous about the pondage? We stayed further away from both the outlet and inlet than they recommend on the main dam. For the water level to change enough to bother us it would have to drown all the fishermen.

It's funny how the next shot she is all wet. Obviously didn't quite make the drop. 
Just saw a sign that said no boating. I don't consider my SUP to be a boat (although the one I was riding that day turns like the HMAS Melbourne) so figured I was ok.
No one has been able to give me a good reason why I shouldn't be on there and as I said... With all the boats on the main dam it was way safer than any other options.
