How is this possible Casso? Either you don't have a wife or you are from one of those countries where you have 15 of them and you do whatever the hell you want to do!

Hey surfanimals
Great quiver. How does the fanatic compare to the naish javelin?
I remember you saying the fanatic made half your quiver obsolete.... That's a big quiver!

The Javelin flies in the river on glass but 26 wide makes it next to impossible to keep upright on / in any swell.....it's way quicker than the 14' or 17' Glide on flatwater. (the 14' is quicker than the 17' on glass too as the 17' yaws heaps).

The Fanatic is a board you could pretty much ride anywhere and be really happy with the results - surf breaks, bays, ocean and river but paddling with Ben last week in Lake Illawarra with him on his 16 SIC showed the lack of speed over a long distance - it is comfortable and will do the job on a downwind run but not out do the Glide's.

It definately obsolete's the 14' Glide if you couldn't have both and has enough stability for the 14' Laird's to go as it's stable enough for my wife to cruise on as well.

Cheers.

I do have a wife - a lovely one, not a very happy one, but a lovely one no-the-less.

Most of these boards are up for sale - that might give you an idea of how much I'm not allowed to "do whatever the hell I want to do".

Hi Jason and Chris,

Stoked you like the image, It took a bit of doing but the result was worth all the swearing, packing and un packing of the quiver caddy and wind direction changes with hair going in all directions, gotta love location work laughs.

In the end it was a whole lot of FUN to do and we learned a lot from it.

Hope to catch you both at Mambo for a beer or 2.

Note to self: take plenty chilled beer and BBQ to wait for tide to run out as tide tables are predictions not promises and Neptune does what he like when he likes.

Here you go! Not laid out as beautifully as Phil's but here's our little collection
Hobie 10'6" ATR (my fav for flatwater cruising)
Hobie 10'2 Chuck Patterson Stinger (my current fav for waves)
Hobie 9'9" Chuck Patterson Stinger (Jason's current fav for waves)
Hobie 11'2" ATR (Jason's current fav for cruising)
NSP 11' x 4 (Great School boards)
Southpoint Kalama 11'6" (our first board & still great for cruising!)
Walden 9'11" x 2 (great allrounders surf & flat - I never thought I would move off this one and still often take it out if paddling the 2.5km each way up the river for a play in the waves)
Hobie 12'6" custom race board
Hobie 14' custom race board (both on loan for a couple of weeks - there has been no swell so we are going to play up and down the river!)
Also in the collection is the good old Mistral 11' but it is out on loan to the girls at Merimbula till we go down there in November!
OH! and the famous Naish Nalu 11'6" Resort board with Window. Made famous by the autographs of our now internationally renowned racers from QLD

Also for anyone interested, here's our paddle collection!

I wish we could Dan, but we just borrow them every now and then. The Hobie Australasian Headquarters is just up the road from us, and they keep these two race boards here for when the big guns come out to race (ie Chuck Patterson, Kurt Byron, Colin McPhillips etc). They really look after us and let us demo all their range but these custom race boards are expensive and delicate critters and I would feel awful if I damaged one so we take them straight back after an event!

We will be bringing them down to Merimbula though so we will give you a go if you like.

They are really fast: I paddled the 12'6" in the 5km race at Malfunction and was totally amazed that I came in not that far behind Sue & Ang on their 17s & was stoked to be 4th women across the line and 2nd women on 12'6" behind Candice Appleby (who is just amazing and was actually 1st woman across the line (ahead of the 17s) and 3rd or 4th in the open 12'6"!!!).

See you soon
Mel

Hi Mel,

Its great to see you have quite a variety in the boards too, so many options.

Best paddle quiver I have ever seen, love the wooden paddle is it a Jason Westman?

Will you be bringing the Hobie race boards to Mambo love to have a look at them.

Best regards

Phill

Yes & Yes, Jason loves the westman paddle - it is the limousine of paddles - all style!
Will happily give you and Kristi a spin on the racers ! Can't wait !
And yes, we are very spoiled for choice!

The Burton is the Troy Brooks round tail quad 6,4 x 19 1/8 x 2 3/8, awesome board up to head high, has a great big single concave to double to vee through the rear fins.
I have been looking at them DHD project 15s on the site, what makes em so good Lacey?

Definately top 2 in the best performance longboards I have ever owned or ridden. If a sup ever gets half as capable as this board then I may have to convert back. (safe call I reckon)

well coming back from sups, normal sb don't seem to go forward, but p15 is fast, drivey and has good lenght of turn, yet still does all the other stuff you expect. the vids posted show what i mean. obviously i'm not even on the same map as those guys on the vids, but the board does those things
cheers
ps i ride at the same lenght 'pre sup', but a bit wider and a bit thicker then pre sup
