Southpoint Kalama 11'6"

I was looking at one of these today and noticed that it comes with grip that is recessed into the board but is only on the center of the board. Do you need to either add some more grip or wax when moving back on the board in the surf or does the supplied grip cover enough of the deck for flat water paddling and surfing? I hope that this question makes sense!!

I was talking to a guy at the beach today about the Naish 11'6" and the Kalama and after a test paddle of both went up to the shop and bought the Kalama.

The one thing about the Kalama that he liked was the full length grip.

The section in the middle (black in color) is just a different pattern..The front and back sections are still deck grip..just a bit smoother and light grey in color.

I have to agree the Kalama is a great all round board..It's very stable and has lot's of glide.

I took this pic today while I was out cruising on the Kalama...Glassy or what..
