They are not wheels, they are round rubber grips.

Good pix of the groms! Looks like everyone is having a ball!

I don't mind the kids street SUPing but I'm not a bid fan of it. Kinda like skooters!
Longboards (skateboards) are super popular at the moment but without the stick.

Dogman, if your reading...have you had a shot?
How's it compare to the real thing? (skatebaording)

Brendon,

Kristi loves it for cross training and now Niki does too.

I hadnt really tried it until yesterday for obvious reasons, but I have to say its a little addictive and a great upper body work out pushing up small hills.

We were messing around outside the new toilet block at OG and lots of friends had a go while we were waiting for the tide to push the swell up and they all liked it too.

I had another go this morning, kinda down winding on land?

Lots of possibilities me thinks.

I'm liking that "Blade" thing on the business end...the old rubber donut things work but they're not great and I tend to go through them. How short does that stick fold down to? How is that soft handle?

First we had surfboards with paddles not skateboards with poles, what next

Skateboarding is skateboarding even if you are holding onto a stick

how does this compare to actual water sup'ing? some have mentioned it being a good cross training device? is it using the same muscles?

Yeah more or less, though I think Street SUP is more of a pushing motion past your feet which is something you don't want to be doing in the water.

Hey Paul, you could also try putting it up on ASRA if you don't get any bites here?

(almost warmed up after this morning!)

Just as an aside, I was riding home from work the other night and a guy was going the other way on a street SUP.

He was easily keeping up with the bikes so he was cruising on about 18-20 kph.

Presumably with the extra reach you can keep pumping (sticking? poling? paddling?) at a speed that would be too high to skate along with your foot.

The only problem was he kept flicking his sticking over into the other lane which made me nervous, and made it hard for the behind him to get past. He did have bikes in front and he was keeping pace with them.

I've done some outings around the 40-50km mark with mine on melb's bayside path and cruising speeds into the high teens/low 20s aren't hard on the flat. Uphill ain't so fun though, I ride a drop-through so I can push (kick) comfortably in the conventional way. All that said, skilled pushers/pumpers can keep those speeds up for ages. (look up Jeff Vyain's Adrenalina marathon win)

New Adjustable Big Sticks retail for $179. Length range is from 4'6" to 6ft. Kids will love it - that is if they can get it away from dad long enough!

Street SUP is a great upper body workout. It uses major muscles in the upper body, arms & legs in particular the chest, shoulders, back, abdominals & obliques, as well as triceps, biceps, thighs, hamstrings & glutes.

Look out for the Big Stick fitness review in the next issue of KITE/SUP Mag.

If cross training for water SUP we would recommend the Bamboo Big Sticks -they offer maximum flexibility & mimics paddling in the water.

How does the adjustable stick compare to the other sticks

Is this stick available in Perth?

The Adjustable is very similar weight to the bambo IMO

Flex is good not too stiff, I has a good feel to it.

The best thing is so easy to store or travel with.

Adjustable means the whole family can use it if they want to, Nesh, Niki, Kristi or I can all use it

Craig when standing on the board they say the handle should be about nose height. I get that on the 3rd last or 2nd last holes.

Bear who is 6'4 even thought it was ok on the last hole.

I am only rank beginner and guessing though

Had more fun on it again today while Kristi and Niki were out Supping.

second best thing i have bought since my first sup. Realised my motor wasnt that great but this thing has helped. The boys at roar know the diff in me. dropped nearly 15 kg in 5 months between the h2o and the street. Can get some crazy carves going down hills can really push those turns super hard. Might look strange but i dont care. Was for fitness first, but those big hills are so sweet with the stick. Junkies in southport hate me and the big stick no more asking me for coin.

Ive had one for over a year...

Chris you are right really works for tight turns....you can really lean into them and get some bend on the stick.

Take for what it is and check this vid with Buttons...if its good enough for him
