Summer Series Round 3: Botany Bay on Australia Day

Jan 26th, 2012

http://summerseries.blastpaddlers.com/event-3/

Hi paddlers,

Yes it's that time again folks! The much anticipated Round 3 of your Summer Series is being held on at Botany Bay on January 26th, Australia day.

In response to a flood of emails suggesting it, we moved the Botany Bay event forward to take advantage of Australia day. It just seemed un-patriotic and un-Australian not to hold the Botany Bay event on Australia day. That's right, you asked, we responded. It's your series after all.

In the words of one of our series ambassadors, "what better way to show your true Australian colours than paddle on Botany Bay on Australia day". Powerful words indeed, and that's exactly what we plan do to, and we're counting on you being there as well.

Apparently back in 1788 the 1st fleet sailed into Botany Bay and deemed it not suitable for their needs, but as far as we're concerned there's no place more suitable to celebrate Australia day.

So do plan to come celebrate Australia day at Botany bay with us, compete in round 3 of the Summer Series, enjoy a fun paddle event in your favourite paddle race series.

We're putting on a free BBQ, there's heaps of awesome prizes to be won, show bags, loads of freebies on the day, discount vouchers to take with you, tons of product samples from ASN Neutral Bay, you can demo paddle ski's & kayaks from Carbonology Australia and Stellar Kayaks, so plan to come and be part of an awesome morning on the water with all your paddling pals, and why not bring your whole family with you.

Here's an overview of the details for this event. We'll have the full event page on our web site updated later this morning.

I think the course should be;

Start at the gunnamatta pool,
Paddle down the bay past the Fisheries
Right past the northern in the bay, where you need to catch a runner
then back round the red floating boy at the bottom of the channel and paddle back

About 6 kms and the wave should sort out the men from the boys

(and you easter suburbs types watch what you doin with your sausages, we frown on that sorta stuff in the Shire )

As mentioned numerous times previously, I don't live in that part of the Eastern Suburbs. But I think Bernie does.
