Gear Stewart .
Big thanks to PT (Peter Turner) for taking on the gear stewart job. My wife is stoked that I am not crowding up the place here. I am aiming at getting a club trailer this year that can store the gear and be used by the club for trips (like this Saturday) and also DW races.

Paddle Power Trainer
I used this at a training session on the school holidays with a bunch of club members a found it fantastic. It gives you a good workout whilst also working on your technique. Kelly Margetts has offered all the club members a 20% discount if they proceed to buy one.
If you go to the website and when they go to the checkout there's a place for a coupon and if they put in "Kelly" as the code you can get my discount which is 20% off. Go to the website below and check it out.

Money making opportunity for the club... HELP REQUIRED
Surfing Qld has offered our club the opportunity to set up the Regional Coast of Origin Titles.
Ok Ok don't duck for cover as it is not that much work. They will pay the club $800 to do it. We do not have to worry about registrations, draws, judges or tabulation. We just have to set up and pack up each of the 2 days.

Our tasks would be:
1.Set up 2 Marquees for the judges, announcers and tabulation crew.
2.Provide the first aid kit.
3.Provide the tables for the judges / announcers
4.Provide the PA system
5.Provide a generator.
Pretty simple heh..
We would have to set up and pack up on both Saturday and Sunday. To take on the task I would like 8 volunteers to help out. I will get a grant for the bigger PA system.
Is there a club member that has a generator????
As for a heat timer we can burrow or buy our own.
Please let me know by Friday if you can help.
The dates are the 21 and 22 of July

Another ROAD TRIP
There is a group of us camping at Clarkes Beach Caravan Park Byron Bay on the weekend of the 26 and 27 of May for the race down there. If your keen book in quick as there are not many sites left.

Great Day. Swell was 3 foot and ultra clean. Best conditions to date.

We started with a sprint surf race which was hotly contested. Jonsey (Paul Jones) took off up the beach to attack the rip while the rest of us paddled in Rusties (Ryan Kek) wake. By the can ('shark can') Rustie had the lead and it looked like Jonsey had erred on running for the rip. The surf however threw up a wave and Jonsey shot through for the win.

Points and places.

Opens:

1st: Paul Jones: 10 points
2nd: Ryan Kek: 9 Points
3rd: Nathan Day: 8 Points
4th: Kai Roberts: 7 Points
5t: Bailey Day: 6 Points

Over 40s:

1st: Scott Roberts: 10 points
2nd: Alan Heald: 9 Points
3rd: Peter Turner: 8 Points
4th: Anthony Swan: 7 points
5th: David Mitchell: 6 Points

The surf contest was great. Some of our young groms (11 years) were taking on anything with the heart of a lion. Great to see such ability with some so young.

The day was postcard perfect and the swell was spot on with a board breaking shorey (sorry jonsey)

The final places were:

Opens:

1st: Peter Turner: 10 Points
2nd: Paul Jones: 9 Points
3rd: Lincoln Dews: 8 Points
4th: Mark Hatful: 7 Points
5th: Marcel DePaul: 6 Points
6th: Ryan Kek: 5 Points
7th: Anthony Swan and Damien Bailey: 4 Points
8th: Josh Burns: 3 Points
9th: Nathan Day: 2 Points
10th: Scott and Kai Roberts: 1 Point

Over 40s:

1st: Anthony Swan: 10 Points
2nd: Peter Turner: 9 Points
3rd: Paul Frausin: 8 Points
4th: Scott Roberts: 7 Points
5th: Bruce Exton: 6 Points
6th: Mark Hatful: 5 Points
7th: David Mitchell: 4 Points

Thanks to Mark from Quiver Kaddy, Scott from Kawana Betta Discount Warehouse, and Luke and Hayden from Ocean Addicts for donating all the prizes.

PT won the Little Bro Quiver Kaddy and has donated it back to the club for next months raffle. It is a great way of getting your board to the beach / river so will be worth getting a ticket at the next club day.

Thanks to Mark from "Wetfoot Photography" for coming along. We should have some great shots as soon as he emails them in. Photo's can be purchased from Mark.
