SUP surfing is getting some coverage in the longboard surf media recently. The latest issues of "Australian Longboarding" and "Pacific LongBoarder" have some good shots of the Noosa comp. Also check out David Pu'u's double page spread of Garret McNamarra on pg.8 of PLB.
The cover of PLB has an awesome shot of Harley Ibgleby
I have just returned from the UK and found a copy of SUPaddleboards June 2008 edition on a news stand. It was issue #2 and has 4 pages on the Noosa Surf Festival under the heading "Mike Schweiger visits the Gold Coast where the SUP scene os taking off big time."
There is a 2 page photo spread of JB doing his thing.
I suppose that from 12000kms away the Gold Coast is close to the Sunshine coast.
Generally the mag all 56 pages covers the SUP scene pretty well.

Welcome to the Breeze SH...Thanks for that info..You will have to scan those pics of JB and post them if you can..
Could you tell if he was he on the 9'6" Quad?
DJ
Jeez you meet the nicest people here at the Breeze..
SH contacted me and said he would send me his copy of the new SU Paddleboards magazine that he just picked up in the UK.
Today I received it..Thanks SH..That was very nice of you..
On pages 16-17 there is a big double page spread picture of our JB cutting back on the 9'6" Naish at Noosa..It's a great shot.
Pages 26-27 has a nice looking bikini girl (Anne Marie Reichmann) showing how to get started on a SUP..
There's great pictures of her bending over and getting on the board..
Here's a link to the mag site.. http://www.supaddleboards.com/latest_issue.htm ..and we should see this issue in our shops here soon.

There was a Topic on here this morning and a guy posted saying theres a new mag coming out today called Stand Up Journal,
So i went for a paddle to 2 different newsagents that were on the list and they didnt have a clue wat i was talking about.
Then i get home and the Topic had been deleted.
Dunno if he got his dates wrong or sumthing.
The UK seems to be very quick on the SUP mag scene, I saw quite a few copies of the mags while over in Maui (the UK dealers bought them over). Good content, good pics (esp. the ones of me!!!). It would be awesome if an Aussie mag developed, as I think we have a lot to offer with SUP.
I thought of scanning my pic and putting it up, but thought it would be a bit of a trumpet blow. It is a cool pick though considering the surf is only about knee high.

I'm still waiting on my subscription which i paid for back on the 19th of march.
They keep telling me it's coming but i'll believe it when i actually see the mag in my post box.
So is this mag a dedicated sup mag ? or is it a windsurfing mag with some sup in it ? I wont be buying it if it is a windsurf/ & standup combined. But if it is a stand alone sup mag i will be definately be buying it. I spend enough on mags now tracks, waves, and the odd motox mag i certainly dont want to be buying one with something in it that i have no interest in.
Here are some of the content from the SU Paddleboards Mag. Very nice, esp. the shot of me! LOL.
Regards,
JB
Same as Jake .. went to Pines News yesterday after collecting new fins and having old fin surgically removed, and Pine News had never heard of it. Although I did think at first that Jake or his Dad had beaten me there ... bleedin snakes!!
Clay, if there is a lack of support from the professional photogs, can I ask then is the publication open to reader's contributions? These could be in form of digital images or also written.
To me, the window of opportunity to promote the virtues of SUP before summer arrives is closing very fast. There is a plethora of issues the sport needs to address very quickly as it approaches the explosion of participants that could be expected over the summer months and the mag would be an extremely effective medium to do this.
Just a random thought.
