Saw this guy trying to catch the wake from the Queesncliff/Sorrento ferry. He was wasting his time as it puts out very little wake but made me think if anyone has tried catching some more sizable wake?

At Williamstown in Vic as the ships come into the yarra and before they get off the gas they put out big wake and it runs all the way to the beach. I think it's worth a crack just for the novelty of it!

Would be even easier with a Sup the crowd factor is fantastic also. this was the first time trying so so had to experiment with speed tilt etc. bigger boat would have been great, but I wasnt complaining ride till your legs giveout

though idea has mad me think of weighing down the back of my boat to create larger wake. That will be the easy part. The hard part will be convincing the wife that driving the boat on swell less day will be great fun for her also.

I wouldn't try this on commercial vessals as I believe their is a law against it.

The swells from the container ships seem to be super fat up close, probably the weird bulbous nose thing they have is designed to cut the drag down which I guess makes smaller wake. I'm guessing you would need a really long board, hang on, my new Penetrator is coming next week.......

The other thing is that up close container ships doing 20 knots are just unbelievably scary big, you get this overwhelming sense of just wanting to get away from them as fast as you can.

I take my sunday sup fitness class paddling past this little spot every week and dodge the trawlers but didnt realise that if you weight down the rear of the boat it can create some classic sections like this

love the bit where the boogie board drops in then the wave turns inside out

i look at every trawler in a different way now...dreaming.....lol....

and no its not me on the booger with the red helmet

and the trawler used is one of the small veasels of the fleet

this one has some 3D images of a cray wave pool setup

these guys look semi serious

I'm surprised that we don't get some good wake rides in the bay.. We get heaps of big ships..

Maybe it is that big knob at the front of the ship.. I wonder what the female ships look like..

Going by that last pic, I'd say that this particular ship seems to prefer wharves to female ships..
