Hi Al,
That question would be better answered from Surfing Queensland. But I do believe you only have to be a member of Surfing Queensland to be eligible for SUP State Qualification.

Yes you can compete if you are from another state but even if you win , you won't qualify for the Aussies.

First 4 QLD'ers go through in mens (all disciplines) , first 2 in the Women's and old fellas. Go through to the Aussies.

A question,
In the 17km Long Course, it has (8 x spots for the qld team) but I presume Travis and Jamie will get wild cards.... so is it still 8 spots or 6??
Cheers Jonesy

It's 3 to 4 feet here this morning and the swell is expected to drop to less than half that by Saturday.

Coastalwatch forecast is calling 3 feet, swellnet is saying 2 feet. No river race and the wind looks alright also.

Isn't swell direction turning onshore?? Even with the drop it will amount to bigger than what goldy is seeing now?

Not on any forecast chart I have looked at. Windguru, Swellnet, Coastalwatch, Stormsurf. Earlier in the forecast period there was some variance but now they all look the same.

All almost dead South Swell and dropping fast. South winds 14-15 knots.

Surfing:- 16 entered in the 0ver 40's so far and 16 in the open mens , good show from the old blokes. Monday looks like a pulse so the comp may be shifted to Monday , Surfing Qld will make the decision late this arvo.

Looks like a pulse, ha ha Rob. Maybe 42 knot wind and 4 meters of SE swell is OK at Currumbin? I don't mind as long as the paddle out is doable.

Map looks interesting:

I'm hoping but I think going by the last almighty dud forecast we won't have it for Monday morning , we apparently almost have a 3m swell with a double figure swell period now BUT it's not even 2 ft.

So are you up here yet Goatie , Dogman is here with G.Breen I think we are having a drinking contest at my place tonight.

Sounds good Rob, good luck trying to beat Dogman or Noel and Stokesy to a drinking comp. Shared a house with em at the NSW, those guys are machines

I am coming up tomorrow morning with the young bloke and my misses so a quiet one for me this time.

Heres a big tip for anyone going in the Xcel race on Saturday the Cooly Rocks on festival is on as well so it will be mahem trying to get to Snapper Rocks!!!
My tip would be to go via the back highway M1 and take the Kennedy Dve exit which is just after you come out of the tunnel going south past the back of the airport and go through Tweed Heads to get to Snapper and get there early as they get over 10,000 people in Coolangatta. Also get someone to drop you off as parking is normally at a premium during the weekend events.
Good Luck.

With all the street closures in Coolangatta tomorrow the only way to get to Snapper is past the Twin Towns Services Club.
