Kialoa have a sweet new paddle that's smaller than the Methane and designed for women and children.. It's called the 'Pipes'.

I took my daughter (Claire) for a paddle today so I.. er.. I mean she.. can test out the new paddle... We both loved it..

Here's my pictures from today.

My buddy Cam thinks his sore shoulder could be rectified by a narrower paddle blade. Wait till I tell him he's hankering for a girl's paddle.

Having said that, the colour of this one is pretty sweet.

As a reference point, is that your Shaka Puu that you have photographed alongside it?

The paddle beside it is the small Kialoa 'Methane'.. and it's the paddle that I use in the surf and will race with on Australia day..

Saw those paddles in the flesh today. They certainly look good Dave!
I'd image the weight difference between the methane and the pipes would be negligible?

Looks great DJ. I might have to get one of those for my new surf blade ... oh, I mean for the wife.

Actually that looks a good size blade.did you notice any board speed difference, because i trimmed 20mm from round the edge of my paddle and it seemed to propel the board at the same speed but took a lot of strain from the shoulders and made paddling so much better i.e.paddle cadence, weight, and return stroke because of less wind resistance.

That's what I think.. You can feel the less strain but it still has plenty of bite.

It would be great for windy days.. It should be a great paddle for paddling into the wind.

I'll have it there at The Port Phillip Cup on Australia day at St Kilda if anyone wants to try it.

Humble pie time... now that I've used the Pipes paddle and want one for myself, I guess that gives everyone permission to rag on me for hankering for a girl's paddle.

Warning using a Pipes paddle may cause this effect!

Great picture Phill.. Great looking paddle.. and the surfie chick's not bad either..

It's amazing how powerful the Pipes is for such a small paddle.
