Don't forget that our third event in the 2010/2011 season is on this Sunday, 12 Dec 2010. This will be at Long Reef Beach, starting at 7:30am and we'll in front of the lagoon somewhere. Conditions are looking awesome with plenty of sunshine and light, offshore winds. It looks like the waves might be very small though, but that's the beauty of SUP - we can ride just about anything!
Here's an estimated schedule for the day:
- 7:30 am - Setup, competition entries accepted
- 8:00 am - Cut off for surfing competition entries, heats drawn up for surfing competition
- 8:20 am - Round one of surfing competition starts
- 10:30 am - Round two of surfing competition starts
- 11:30 am - Final of surfing competition starts
- 12:00 pm - Women and junior divisions paddle race starts
- 12:30 pm - Open division paddle race starts
- 1:00 pm - Presentation
We will have the cool new 2011 t-shirts available for purchase at each event (until stocks last). They will be $25 each and we've got heaps of different sizes in both men's and ladies.
Go and check out the SPSC Facebook page and click the Like button to get regular updates.
Hope to see you on Sunday at Longy.
Hanging for it, Will be there with bells on (cause it's Christmas).
Speaking of Christmas, I haven't run this past the boss man yet, but hey, let's do it live. I was thinking we should ride with a Christmas theme this weekend? Mainly in the race as not to loose too many special effects in the surf.
Please leave post if your coming, and would like to (or not to) come in the spirit of Christmas in some way. It will make for awesome pics and video for web and mags.
Hope to see you all on Sunday.
Regards,
JB
A Christmas themed, fancy dress race sounds great.
Excellent idea from the king of dress-ups.
BTW - Condom man is not classified as Christmas theme!
Forecast looks good weather wise - not so good for surf - still, I am looking forward to seeing the head judge in a Santa suit.
Tiny waves today for the club comp but some amazing surfing went down i dont think ive surfed in waves this small on my sup before and it really showed everyone today how good SUP is as we can ride anything! I would consider today as almost unsurfable yet i saw guys throwing fins ,doing 180 tail slides , surfing in santa suits getting head dips, flaoters was another unreal day !!!!!
surfing results were
1. John GOATMAN christensen Board DTM 8'7" CUSTOM
2. Dan DTM Cleary Board DTM 8'6" custom
3. Sam WINDSURF N SNOW Parker Board STARBOARD 8"5
4. SANTA Jeremy JEZZA007 Corne 8'8" LAGUNA BAY custom
Hats off to Jezza who rip his way to the final in a full santa suit!!!!!!!!!
im not sure on the racing results as i can in last and could see that far ahead hopefully some more imfo and pics to come
Thanks for the results Dan,
Sorry we couldn't be there (had the santa suits ready) but we gotta put food on the table and weekends mean work at this time of year!
Hope everyone had a good time & Merry Christmas to all
Mel & Jason
Top day!!!! Teensiest of waves, but still so much fun and at least it really felt like summer.
A hats off to the judging too, so hard to differentiate in those sort of waves, yet still scores of 7 and 8 getting put down regularly, good stuff!
Some interesting moves went down due to the small surf, like JBs switch take off to 180 revert ( was it Jordy Smith out there?), Sam was just styling big carves ( incredible flow for the conditions), and Dan & Goaty threw down some massive slashes and reos, well deserved winners, BUT...
The highlight had to be Santa!! Top score went to his helicopter stall 180 lip slide in the semi. And after throwing down many a Santa Snap he pulled out of his sack the set wave of the heat in the first round, and then, followed this up with a full head dip tube ride. We are talking full on, Santa beard dragging in the face!! Woohoo - beard stall!!
Yeah top day, big thanks to JB Casso and Jedi (head Judge).
The 'Santa' moves were definitely the highlight.
