I've heard about rail tape and blade tape and blade rubbers. I've been trying to get my hands on some tape, but all the shops I've asked haven't stocked any.

Should I go with blade tape or blade rubbers? If I go with one or the other, do I need to go with rail tape as well? Can anyone please recommend a certain brand or type of tape and point me in the right direction to find some?

Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!

Just use normal electrical tape on the blade. It works fine

"White" electrical tape if you don't want the scuff marks.

Most petrol stations sell coloured electrical tape.. I've found the Nitto brand the best.

If you tape your paddle blade there's no need to tape your board.

Try not to hit your board..

Here's a past post showing how I tape mine.. www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=51980&SearchTerms=Taping,your,paddle

I don't like the finish of electrical tape on the paddle so I went with tape on the board rails.

For $16.00 at Bunnings, a mega roll (25 metres) of the weave style cloth tape in assorted colours will give you a great finish and protect the board for re-sale.

I do two layers, one high and one low on the rail with the centre section overlapped.

It's also known as '100 mile an hour' tape and 48mm wide in red, yellow, white, black, blue etc etc.

I've got this stuff from Clarke Rubber - cant remember how much but only $1-$2 per metre - works a treat. Leaves a few black scuff marks that clean off easily.

I used the 9x2.5mm stuff

I have the WHITE version of this from clark rubber and applied superglue to paddle in approx 200mm sections then quickly pushed on the rubber profile as i went.

what i use is "super ding tape" just like normal ding tape for repairs but a lot thicker, cost about $30 a roll and a roll should be enough to to do both sides of a board from a couple of feet back from the nose to just past where you stand, looks like it will last for years, you can by it online, just do a search under "super ding tape"
