Finally after surfing tidal slop for the past few months the monsoon is here - which means waves - and no sign of any crocs yet but plenty of box jellyfish floating around!! Darwin is still having 6m tide differences but it's been awesome for the past 2 days and will be until Thursday. Surfed solid, glassy 6ft beachbreak at 5pm yesterday with only Jodie & myself on SUP's and 2 other shortboarders out, then this morning our usual spot had tidy, glassy 5' sets coming through on the outgoing tide - until the lightning and storm started anyway!! have another 6m high tide this afternoon and if the wind dies off again should be set for another 5-6' glassy session Will try and get some pics - Jodie was too busy SUPing yesterday arvo and this morning we had a few technical issues when the camera bounced off the road!!
I hear you !! I lived up there for 1 wet season, and I was pleasantly surprised when the surfed started to roll in. I had my kit with me, because my next stop was an extended trip to Indonesia.
I remember a couple of solo sessions up at Casurina Beach.
Post photos please !!
ok, just got back from a 2 1/2 hr surf. Tide was incoming from 4m-6.2m, the wind picked up a bit onshore and we surfed 3 different banks with the change in tide. Unfortunately not as glassy or as big as yesterday but definately fun and decent.
Sorry about the photo quality - didn't do the best job trying to balance and take photo's & I wanted to surf a bit but heres my effort:

Yeah the stinger suits are decieving. Good old Lycra stops the jellyfish sticking to you!! Water temp would have been around high 20degree mark.
Still some swell coming through. Bit of a strong onshore this arvo but beggars can't be choosers when it comes to waves up here. Just for you Simondo a couple of photo's from Casuarina beach this afternoon (courtesy of Jodie :))
