You made me dig up the Melways!! Green Point didn't come up for me on Google Maps.
Regarding Location: Green Point is basically at the end of "South Road". (for those not overly familiar with Brighton).
Is the big carpark there at the war memorial a free carpark, or will we need a fist full of gold coins to park there, or credit card, or free on Sunday... ???
Yeah fist full of gold coins required. Or someone more local to the area may suggest a secret spot somewhere across the street that I'm not familiar with.
I'll check sometime in the next few days, but I think that all of the streets off Beach Rd near Green Point don't have any parking restrictions. So you could rock up to the carpark, unload etc and then put the car across the road.
However, subject to conditions on the day, we are aiming to start the 8km paddle at Ricketts Point (Beaumaris), so there may be a bit of car shuffling. We will have facilities (trailers, vans) to transport multiple boards down to the start line.
To clear up a few things that some must be thinking.
The 8 klm course will follow the shore line so no PFD's will be needed.
The race direction will be down wind (whatever it is on the day).. We are hoping for no wind and a 9am start will usually guarantee that.
There will be no board size divisions but we are looking at some kind of handicap system that could be used for different sex, age, and boards etc.

Clarifying earlier questions, the intention is to make the 8km race a water start and beach finish, whereas the 2km race will be a beach start and finish.
Not sure if this will help.
A rough guess but it looks like there will be over $8000 worth of cash and prizes.
Posters and flyers are up and about in shops now..
I was just wondering..
with the great response that we've had from the knee paddlers from the life saving clubs..
Should we expect them to beat up on our stand-up's? .. are they that fast?

Registered online last week.
Been training hard.
Caught some bay waves last night in the 20knot onshore conditions.
Went to catch one last wave and nose dived then the board flew up and whacked my hand.
Result - fractured bone in the hand.
Any chance of a refund Brendan?
The race is still 2 weeks away Al. You'll be right, just take some Panadol and you'll be set to race.
Sorry Al, no refunds you just have to Harden the F... Up what sort of example would it set for the kiddies if we all pulled out just because of a broken bone or two
Whats that...cup of concrete!
We'll work something out Al, remember you have to be in it to win it and it looks like
almost every "entrant" will go home with a prize worth far more than an entry fee.
Whether you start or not is up to you!
Don't worry about it Brendan.
I think disappointment got the better of me.
I'll offer up my services for ground crew on the day.
Just let me know what I can do as well as HTFU.
Al, If I remember the last race you had a sore back, now you have a sore hand, mmmm I can see a pattern emerging.......
Just wanted to let everyone know....
