I agree casso,

I was a sponcered kiteboarder and even though it was a good lifestyle and fun most of the time

Once i got a go on a sup i found the stoke all over again and had a much more relaxed feeling. No pressure to perform just great fun

How are you going to lug 3 boards around every time you go away for the weekend?

Board racks

have had 5 sups on at one time.

Here's my attempt at carting around my itch medicine, last weekend:

I didn't have to worry about locking up the unused ones while I was out in the surf - because my lovely family decided to join me. Another good reason to sratch that itch - more joy to share around!

Where'd you ride? Didn't see you out on the right hander up the N end-that is a GREAT bank.

Why'd you have all 4 (of your 6 boards right?) on the car?

Looks really good for Sunday up our way!

We just went out the Southern end - the wife and kids wanted to have a paddle and we wanted to keep away from everyone else. That bank up the Northern end did look good though.

I've only got 5.

Yeah, a great weekend coming up! Woo hoo.

During a road trip I lose the will to live if I've got to dick around with too much gear to get at the toys I want. There's nothing worse than spending a half an hour at each end stacking and re-stacking and rooting around trying to find bits and pieces.

I'm musing on the idea of using making a vertical bar to carry the SUP on it's side so it will fit on the roof rack along with the rooftop box. The 23" wide longboard used to make quite a nice sun shade sticking out the side but 30" of SUP would be ridiculous and a navigation hazard.

The problem with having a quiver of SUP is it makes it difficult to obey the first rule of play:

- Always have all your toys with you all the time because if you don't the one you need is the one at home.

How are you going to lug 3 boards around every time you go away for the weekend?

our itch scratchers are always in the toyota slwb hi ace van.8.0,9.0,9.0 10.0 9.8,9.6 longboard, queensize bed, esky, wetties and other winter paraphernalia, 2 surfers and a dog.we stashed another 2 x 9.0 inside for the og demo day and still slept in the bed with a bit of shuffling
a solo surfer could store a 12.o in the ceiling,11.0 and 10.0 down one wall,8.0 down the other wall and a 10.0 longboard under the bed and all your crap under the otherside and still have room to get into you wettie ,all locked up with brooko's behemoth security system as company

Haha security for sure, shes just ordered another one Im working 2 jobs to pay for the thing its costing more than 2 9 6" psh or naishs Good security though having 3 of theses bad boys

He's not actually surfing the wave. He's being dragged along by the mush. The nose of the board is way up in the air.

BTW Kainoa on the 6'6" SUP looks better than this but his turns are still slide and snap rather than carve and glide.

Yeah those hypa boards (to me) don't look very good. Way too much bottom curve/rocker. They look like they have enough volume but just trying to push water. The bucket call is spot on!

Surely they could see/feel this riding them? Maybe it is the wave, I don't know.

The deck looks huge, like you're a foot above sea level or something. I dont know how good those surfers are but even the little girl looks wobbly on them

Not true. It was worth it for the music at least.

Respectfully Hypr,
Kids dont need features like "bat tails" or any extra pointy bits to cause injury.
Kids on a 7' board only need 3" to 4" max thickness, any more the board becomes too corky. Short boards are actualy more stable with the tail half submeged when they are paddled, it dampens the roll & lowers C of G.
Try a board with much flatter rocker, 4" or so, & a tail with a generous spiral V. Gives more drive, particularly with an appropriate size fin.
Heaver riders 90kg or so, are still ok with 4" thickness & 31" x 8' flater decks give more confidence to run around on.

Loco, He is a Neapoilitan Mastiff all 95kgs of him.

Hey Firstpoint I reckon I have heard of Tito, do they show him? Our big boy is Mossimo If they are into the breed they would have heard of him.

That vid is a good example of what a short sup should not be. Luke Egan's 8' Magic Carpet is a better example of the shorter spectrum. It looks sick, and rides sick, but then it is being ridden by a supreme master

Greeno, you hit the nail on the head. Wonder if it was the riders, the waves or the boards that was the problem?

That vid is a good example of going shorter for the sake of going shorter. Board may work great in different conditions with a lighter rider, but on that day, and that guy on it, something doesn't look right.

Fair call Oliver, with out going over the same ol long versus short crap, hard to say whether any board would of been ideal in these conditions, I am shaping a new short sup, 7'6 x 30 x 4, I am calling it the 'Oliver' cos I know how much you love short boards with the dimensions splashed all over the forum

I'll endorse it, but only if you build mounts for a go pro camera and promise to sell it to someone fat, bald and over 40, who has just got into sup.

I was thinking it would make a great first board for someone around 110kg, be great for choppy conditions. I hadn't thought about the go-pro, as I am only 32, full head of hair and built like an adonis I guess I won't be needing it
