On the weekend of 21st & 22nd May 2011...a two day race was held for some of the most elite teams of OC6 paddlers racing two of the Hawaiian channels iron (no change/relief paddlers).

Saturday was Maui to Molokai (this video) and Sunday was Molokai to Oahu.

Australia's Travis Grant sitting in 4 in this video footage of the winning canoe. This team won both days. These canoe's are 40+ feet long.

How's that swell !! And how's those runs !!! Enjoy

What a huge race.

Probably between 40-50km/hr in swell like this. Travis rang after this race and said that both seat 5 and 6 had steering blades which is very rare. Usually only seat 6 steers a canoe with 5 helping with a regular paddle every now and then when needed in large swell. But to have both guys with steering blades shows the power of the swell and speed of the canoe. He said is was amazing and at times actually a little scary.

Had to watch this again, that makes about 20 times so far.

You can really see the bloke steering from 5 as well especially when 6 is way out of the water, so crazy.

You can't see how fast these guys are going but the noise of the boat motor gives it away I reckon.
