For those not heading over to the Quiksilver Festival in Waikiki, is anyone planning on doing this race?
I hadn't heard anything about it this year, but just had a look on their website (http://www.usmevents.com.au/Triathlon___Multi_Sport/Noosa_Winter_Festival/Festival_Info/The_Noosa_Paddle.htm).
The SUP course has been shortened to 6.8km (rather than 20km) this year and there's prizemoney ($150/$100/$50) for the first 3 girls and 3 guys across the line as long as there are at least 3 entries for each. The entry fee of $40 (if you enter before the day) seems pretty reasonable or its $50- if you enter on the day.
The website doesn't have anything about categories so i'm guessing it must just be unlimited with all board sizes in together???
I'm thinking of heading up for the day - is anyone else planning on going?
ill be there
last years was my first ever sup race, also first time on a race sup in the ocean. pretty hairy getting out at coolum but was such a fun race. hopefully more enter this year!
thanks for pointing that out Alison! i thought it was the full 20km for sups.
yep, i'll being going now its a girly distance, subject to a Sat off work
Are they going to keep the finish open until all competitors finish this time?? Bit disappointing when they started wrapping everything up before everyone got across the line, especially when it's a paid event[}:)]
Hey Alison, come on up for the race,
i know there is 5 girls signed up, more the merrier.
bring your 12'6 so we can keep you in sight!
If you turn up without one you will be optional
Sunny SUP, if you go to the bottom of the page of AliCat's post you will see a paragraph titled SAFETY.
In this paragraph it talks about PFD's and legropes.
