I recall as a teenager in the mid 80's watching The Performers. It was filmed I think 84 and was the best surf flick growing up. Garry 'Kong' Elkerton surfing to Rose Tattoo's 'Scarred for life'. It was the best movie with a superb sound track. Rabbit, Chappy Jennings, Wes Lane, Richard Cram, Marvin Foster. Has anybody heard if it ever came out on DVD ? Can you cane toads tell me what break they filmed Kong's Island at ? I heard it was Qld somewhere.
Nice shot at Scotty.
Actually mate, Nagigia is the Island where they filmed King Kong. That's why its called Kongs left.
The wave on Kongs Island refers to Gary Elkerton a far greater legend than some giant movie Gorilla and is in Queensland, it is a secret though as I said as there is a cream puff tree on it. Unless you wear a red and white star suit there is no way you can find out.
Oh Sanchez, I'm not going to turn this into a slanting match. When ya have a dig, ya gotta back it up with the correct info. Kong's Island was a right anyway. A cane toad is from Qld,hence the reason I directed the question to them. I had a feeling is was a bit hush hush. Thanks for the back up CMC. Another favorite of mine was Madwax (these were the days when Ross Clarke-Jones would surf under 20ft.
sorry if a bit off topic bout kong, but my fav surf flick growing up was billabong PUMP how many times i watched that movie god only knows was epic vid even named my first boat after it too funny
Cheers To DTM and CMC for the footage. Brought back some memories. I am going to take a guess and say DTM's footage was G-Land. Correct ? Re:TSOL on butters footage. I downloaded an album off iTunes last year and play it regularly. They ripped in the 80's. Anybody not familiar with TSOL, check them out on YouTube.
OMG this is my favorite scene / movie must have watched it a million time when i was a grom...
