We had a great day today down at The Pines and I got to use my new bamboo Mana in the waves and also give the new cheaper Kialoa a good test.. I was a bit late getting there (due to voting) and was undecided if I would even go out once I realized that I only had my short armed wetsuit.. It was cold and windy and I watched as Cam, Brendan and Mike caught waves outside a huge pack of surfers.. Then a couple of guys rolled up with 10' Mana's on the roof or their van and I hopped out of my car to say hi.. Thought jeez this is like team Naish.. .. I can't let the team down so I pulled on my wetsuit and joined them.. Paddling out I could see Cam paddling up to the next break where there was no one else out.. I thought good move Cam and I set off after him.. We had the place to ourselves.. Great waves.. and after a while I see all the other SUP'er paddling over to join us.. Including Oliver.. We had a great session.. Cam took some pics out on the water and I hope he posts a few of our party waves..
I took a few pics once back at the cars and here they are.

nothing like a good long uncrowded surf with only suppers at the break to clear away the winter blues, first surf for a while that I didn't get a shortboarder bringing out the "only shortboard surfers allowed card", or at least I didn't hear them, now that is one benefit of being half deaf!.
Good stuff !! There were some nice "things" coming through on this side also. I opted for launching into some bomb sets at bells on a prone gun. But there was a small bunch of sups in the bay on that little peak over by Torquay Sailing Club. Looked fun !!!
Photos are just of your board and paddle lying around on the 'beach'. Basically a Naish Kialoa pimp-too transparent JD-at least have something going/of interest on so you can insert the pimp shots.
Ah ha !! Some action on the forum !!!
In all fairness, DJ and Okas were a bit bummed about the cold windy weather in melbs, and would have been wrapped to share the experience and show other people what fun you can have once you extract your bum from the couch.
Plus when the waves are that far off the beach it is hard to take a good line up pic. Plus a little equipment pimp ...
Cam has some action shots.. I hope.
I didn't take my camera paddling because the weather was crap when I got there and I just snapped a few shots when I got back to the car.. There was nothing much else to take pics of and it was mostly to show what a nice day it turned out to be.. I liked the Snoopy..

Pines was the first point /reef break I ever surfed, at age 15/16 what great memories! nice wave when huge. the left can go off also , have a slide pic somewhere of a guy standup overhead coverup going left. magic place!!!!
Started off this morning on the popular left at Pines with Scott,Brenno and later Mike, with the crowd building I saw three 10ft mana's headed our way so I paddled off from there down to the next point ,DJ was one of them and good for surf crew relations they followed me down,
Matt
Brenno on the new PaddlePop, hope this isn't pimping but don't think he sells them yet.

Oliver with the Rock on dude trick,
Dogman may use this in the upcoming Aussie Titles for some extra points
Party wave and a new manoeuvre from DJ ,think its called the broomstick
Was a top day ,heaps of laughs, apologies for the pic quality due to poor light ,water droplets on the lens and me,
Cheers.
Those pics turned out great. It was a bit of a Sup party down there today.
With the early wake up in our dreary Melbourne climate, on election day, I forgot all about my pledge to promote my new Sup fashion - jeans over wetsuit - maybe next time.
On the way home I was thinking about Greenrom and the cockroach position and all the other silly things you could do while riding a wave take using the paddle - there's a shot of DJ doing the witchiepoo, and I did the Joe Satriani, but I was kicking myself I didn't get to show off the shotgun.
Was more fun than I was expecting. If it was a bit more consistent it would have been a great session.
Not like we had to wait long for waves but the cold got to me a few times, especially before the sun
heated things up a bit.
The west coast would have been sooo good today! Anyone down that way have any pix?
I can't believe some of the photos you take. But..... yeah I told you, it's quite obvious the dog was voting.
