I rode a bodyboard through the 80s and 90s and was marginalised and abused for 20 years just because of what I chose to ride, there where surf clubs devoted to hunting us down and belting the s**t out of us. we where constantly spat on, punched or ran over almost every session we had, we went on to become state and aussie champs got to surf with some amazing watermen at some amazing places.
Now I ride a SUP full time and I love it! and to hear the whining from the surfing community about the evils of SUP reminding us all of the surfing commandments is pure bulls**t... Aussie surf culture is built on the foundations of bigotry and it is passed on from one generation to the next...I just try to teach my kids to stay humble and not judge a book by its cover...and surf solo as much as I can.
