Nothing like introducing a friend into the sport!

He's been a short boarder since he was a featus. Having recently got a new board, I now have two, so lent my "spare" to him, so he could have a go.

In a nutshell, he's now hooked, and he's dragging me out in the most crappy conditions ever! But... I'm loving it. I'd allowed myself to be duped into waiting for those glassy conditions with perfect tide and swell. I'd become one of those guys you see come down to the beach for a look, then leave. Urrgh

It's great to return to the "less than best" conditions, plenty of challenges, excitement and fun to be had. Nothing like the keenness of a fresh grommie!

So.. If you're thinking of walking away from the beach when conditions don't look so good, maybe think again and get out there anyway!

Where are you at? Super stoked.. Seeking perfection.. Time challenged... ????

I eat, drink, breath, think, dream and live stand up paddling.
Planning rdos, sickies and excuses to tell to boss 3 days in advance.
It gets in the way of family life.
Hmmm Saturday morning for my sons Auskick game or a SUP surf at my favourate reef break?
SUP!!!

And if your son grows up to become a pole dancer at a drag queen bar because you never went to see his Auskick game?

Teach him to surf. I have really been enjoying going surfing with my young bloke. It is the cycle of surfing. As my boards are getting longer and thicker, his are getting shorter

The Vid looked like a good day, compared to a close out day, where paddling out can be a little tiring!

Good call. I use the excuse its all good exercise.

My mate sent me a couple pics from a couple days ago. Small close outs.
Pics make it look good and then you realise its always better fun than it looks. Just the conditions, so clear and sunny. Nice day to be on the water, I definitely would not have been out on my shortboard.

Thanks Jess for the pics.

LOL I used to do that - the 9-5 thing is a slow death, then I negotiated a four day week and couldn't be happier. You pretty much know that at least one of the three days you will get out - last week I scored the trifecta.

Small closeout days can be some of the "funnest" if you can get onto them early.

It is definately the best sport (at the moment) in my life.

Once it was wave sailing, then kitesurfing. Snowboarding remains to be right up there but
it costs too much and is often not accessable.
