Monday morning I get up before dawn to go for a paddle, to beat the 40 degree heat and the crowd.
Perfect. I was alone with knee high waves. Nothing epic but it was better than what we have been getting the past month. Ive been itching to get my 9'8 out in some waves.
An hour out I catch a wave and go left. As I cross stepped my fin hits the sandbar and I fall off... TOES FIRST!
Yes it hurt but I kept on enjoying the peaceful morning and nice small clean waves. A dolphin and its baby even swam up to me.
I hobbled back to my car satisfied but sore.
A day went by and my foot was bruised and swollen. I couldnt walk so I made myself a walking stick from a paddle handle, an old mast and a skateboard wheel.
Last night I decided to go get an xray. Yep... A broken freaking toe! 2-3 weeks to stay of it and in 5-6 it should be healed. Bloody hell. This week was gonna be a fun week of windsurfing and SUP surfing. Lano and Margs were going to be the places to be. Not anymore.
Its been 3 days and Im frothing to get back in the water. I hope Im good by the end of Jan for my trip to the Abrolhos.
Anyone else had a broken toe and know how long it took to heal?

Sook, I can't see anything wrong. Stop photographing your feet and wasting your money on quacks - get out there.

You'll do anything to get out of the Doctor race.

Broke my little toe ages ago. Man it hurt. Unfortunately theres bugger all you can do other than taking it easy and keep off it. From memory I was out of action for 3-4 weeks.

Hey Greenie,

Tape them with a bit of foam between. Grab some pain killers and hit the water.

You'l be fine till something snaps

I think Jacko has some quick fix ideas ask him, after breaking his leg he was in the water pretty fast

Duct tape works..

I've stuffed my feet so many times windsurfing where you jump off in the shallows expecting sand and you get rock.. Jeez I hate that.. and dropping down the face and getting a reef sucking dry and nowhere to go.

Buy some Croc's and get into some flatwater paddling untill you can stand again with bare feet.. (it could take weeks).. Then get back out there..
