been so stoked with this board.

awesome bump/bop board- still surprising me with what it can do- and pretty handy in the ck,

dam, i just had to try a flat water version that hopefully i can bump ride too. the first tomy is very stable for a 24.5 " board

half shaped.

my thinking with these boards is to make them like a fast surfboard utilising the full width of the board rather than than a paddle board, canoe, oc1 etc.

lift and drive on bumps is something very different from other boards

cnc machined at 25".when shaped down and glassed just bee's knee bigger than 24.5

this is the green and blue tomy. very short displacement dishy nose and very flat across. very very slight concave under foot, may be 3mm. the nose shape is a standout feature of the board

Those are 2 different boards, right? The tail section is different in pic 1 and 5/6, or am I seeing things? That green one you had on that downwinder yesterday seems to go all right.

What's the go with "Tomy" anyway. Is it a DC, or did someone else shape/design it?

yes, a pintail- more of a flatwater version for training. hoping i can dw too. tomy- tryfan came up with- reminded him of thomas the tank engine thingie.

i designed it, dale helped and tweaked the program. it just a thing we are playing with and decided to keep it separate from the dc brand. the names just a bit of fun

it is very different from dc boards.

i'm happy with them. probably will only paddle 12'6 s now

cheers

nice. I do like the look of those noses. Very "killer whale" round looking.

When I get some money I want Dale to shape me a very aggressive displacement nose, with even less volume than my current one

just for the record, i've lost about 13 kg's since the ck to ck race. very comfortable dw ing and paddling 12'6s now.

so yeah, the 12'6 s debate imo are for the lighter paddlers

ps if i put 13 kg's back on and get a 14'er i'll let you be the first to know husq - so you feel good

13kg is a lot to loose In a short time what has been the magic method if you don't mind me asking?? cause I would think a lot of paddling would be building muscle gain along the way also??
Were you out of shape to start with or have you gone on a strict plan to get to a goal??
Top effort that is seriously a massive weight loss congrats should be stoked!!

i was reasonable fit, not really overweight. but i drank a real lot of diet coke9 which according to some sources does the exact opposite) and ate a lot of fast food. i had tests done as a check up and while everything was good except my cholesterol levels.

so i only drank water from then on, radically changed my diet. i eat 'heaps' but the right food at the right time.

kept paddle training but started running. run every third day. it wasn't easy, hadn't run for a very long time. had calf troubles etc, but got past it. as i got lighter ,it got easier to run.

so the weight just kept coming off. gone from a guess 83 to 84 kgs to somewhere between 70 to 71 kgs.

i'm actually really enjoying my food too

cheers

Top effort once again. Thanks for the insight it's always interesting knowing how others drop weight .. Yepp you are what you eat! That's one weakness I have is soft drink. Hardly drink alcohol but soft drink almost daily.. People say running is no good but I'm a big believer in running I lost 12kg 4 years ago training for my 1st marathon. Long runs and short interval runs is all I did for 3 months not a single other bit of exercise and clean eating amazing how the weight dropped. Committed to getting myself back to that level of fitness now hoping now I found paddling that will help with the core and better breathing etc.

A bit off the Tomy topic, but gotta agree with that.

Today was the first time I really I enjoyed a downwinder on a 12'6" so I'm convinced!

15kg has also made a much bigger difference to paddling a 12'6" than it has to paddling a 14'.

(PS. looks like I'll be racing you to crack the 70kg mark )

Yeah soft drink is the worse , choc full of sugar. I have gone from over 90kg to 84kg I rekon a lot due to cutting out soft drinks and eating healthy.Still on the cancer sticks though would love to kick that habit.Ive been gettting back into running , but only run on grass , much better for the old beat up bodyThats what i love about sup , low impact

was under after running last night. nah, i don't think i need to lose any more -seem to be maintaining. i like the off the mark speed of a 12'6 and they are more adaptable to changing conditions. i'm still learning on this board. tightening up the technique. the board is very stable for it's width and flies- feels like someone gets behind and lifts the board and gives it a shove-but got to lose those occasional paddle checks

Looks like we are all on a mission I've lost 11kg's in 8 weeks (because I drank to many Coronas in Mexico) I've always ate healthy and I eat like a Mallee Bull I just graze all day on fruit, vegies and fish or steak and train running, swimming, aerobics and so on. I'm never one for drinking soft drink I'll drink maybe 4 can of Coke a year, My biggest problem is I can drink 15 schooners in a sitting with ease;

This is a great book to read if your serious about your health and the weight just falls off

I wasn't aware that weight came into the debate regarding DW'ing. I had seen it come up in sprints and surf type races, especially BOP as some big names have had their say???.

There was a very interesting double episode of Catalyst the other week. Would have opened a few eyes regarding fatty foods, cholesterol and heart problems.

I've heard good stories about that book iron Phil , I have to read it now!
Also buying a rope I've never been able to skip like a boxer, time to learn a new skill need a high intensity work out I can do in the house atm since I got a newborn that is restricting my time to train never thought of a rope till reading your comment. I'm inspired from this thread and all the stoke you guys are throwing out about DWing lately!

I find SUP ocean paddling to be one of the best forms of exercise going around. I never paddle in flat water (yes, I know I have bad technique) and love the choppy, messy stuff. That's were you get your best all round workouts. Having a rudder system helps balance your left/right paddle ratio (preventing injury) and opens up so many more options out in the ocean.

Well done Lacey - keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to seeing your new board out there, where it belongs.

Gee we have gone off topic here a bit , you guys should check out this book I followed the diet guidlines for a while and lost weight quickly , im just so undicipled i find it hard to stick to anythingThe book is very detailed in the science and heavy reading. But the basics are you under eat during the day and pig out at night.Expecially carbs at night as when you sleep this is when growth hormones are realeased and carbs facilitate the release of GH.He advises eating small portions of proteins for brekkie and straight after heavy exercise sessions. But basically straving yourself during the day which makes your body go into survival mode and burn fat and help release all the stuff that builds lean muscle mass.Any way one of you guys read it that has a brain so you can explain it to meYou can get it from the local Library at the Pines for you guys that live local. He has some interesting theories on training also!

most guide lines suggest less protein at night.

the 'tomy pin' got its top coat on, fin boxes, valves and plugs are in. sanding, then patches and the finish coat. more sanding after that and stuff but looking good

the boards deck was tinted to so i'm going to pass on any paint to keep it light and just have a red pin line
