Went off to Tolaga Bay with Towball this morning in the dark,,,,,not looking good at first glance but went for paddle over to the river mouth anyway

There were some waves hiding in the greyness of the sea & sky

Looking better as we got closer

And Bingo!! ....There they were

A bit of a walk back along the beach

The support crew waiting back at the vehicle

With Towball getting an A plus from me for his tour guide capabilities

Nice! Looks cold though.

We did a quick road trip 1 1/2 hours north yesterday too and scored clean head to head and a half high waves with only 2 of us out.

The forcast for snow to ground level must have kept the masses away!

The snow has arrived! I'm glad we weren't planning to hit the surf today. Here are a couple of pics at New Brighton beach in Christchurch today. About 6 inches + has covered the whole city down to sea level. Yay a day off work!!

Ha Ha towball I don't think its the type of contest I want to win. It was fun for a couple of hours but now I'm bored and can't get the car out of the garage, so stuck trolling the net.

Water temp has dropped to 9.7deg too!

A couple more shots.

Looks like I'm going to have tomorrow off work too. With -6 degree frost forecast Christchurch is going to be a BIG SKATING RINK
