Ok, I cheated and did the couse last night under sail. Still it was awesome to be out there with a pure southery and whitecaps crashing around me.

The only drama was the disturbed water in the lee of Tommarree headland. Here the wind started to circle so I went to power. Unfortunately a temporary repair I was forced to do when Maritime strategically dumped me the ocean side of Swansea bridge failed.

Before I could get the sails back up and find some wind I drifted onto the outer bar and was knocked over by a freak set. It was time to radio Marine Rescue and report my situation. Luckily though the wind turned to the west. I sailed over behind Fingal Island, safetly dropped anchor and waited for my "rescuers".

I am hoping the paddlers at the Sourhern cross event have a bettet run! Still If the course goes this way, I.am sure the backwash at Tommarree heads will test some fatiguing muscles.

At any rate I am not complaining too much. I could have got up this morning in worse parts ot the world!

Well at least I have not had to answer any replies while the weather has been perfect and the surf pumping.

I probably could have sailed around to One Mile, but the big Easterly groundswell would have been getting straight in making anchoring uncomfortabe. Instead, the last few days I have paddled from Shoal Bay around to Fingal Spit. Yesterday on the way I just had to give big Box Beach a go. You mega competitive types need to try this one on a SUP; its a bast!

Not forgetting I got there via the five foot close-outs at Zenith Beach. My advice is to make sure you time this one perfect.

Luckily yesterday only resulted in a broken leash. Back for more today I copped a rail in the face. Nothing more serious than a bit of claret from a slight cut on the nose. Not bad at all for a few relaxing weekdays in paradise winding down before the event begins.

Hope the conditions hold till you all get here. Otherwise, it is going to be another bad case of "ya should have been here yesterday".
