Took a week off during the year and with the wife travelled down to the magical southcoast, Yallingup, Meelup, Bunkers and South Point. Here are some photo's. Hope you enjoy them

On the road again

Ahh Yallingup..beautiful

Yals was nice and clean.

Meelup was tiny the day before the storm

Meelup the next day

The farm was closing down a bit so we headed for Cowaramup

Checking the surf

Checking who is checking the surf

Huzza's was cool

I use the 11'2'' for flat water and the 10'14'' for the surf

On the 10'14''

Backup crew and cook extraordinare

South point, getting rides right down into the bay.

Missy can't drive, she isn't 17 yet

South point was smoking

Stoned man

Yallingup was like Waimea Bay
Time for a sausage, a cold beer and thank God for a great trip

Nice photos elbeau, I'll have to look those places up on google maps, haven't really heard of them. I'd love to spend more time in WA sometime. What happened to the guys face in the 4th photo? Road trauma is such an issue in Australia.

That looked like greenroom in one of the photos.

Yeah look sorry about the quality. I can only describe it for you I suppose. Sort of rugged good looks, George Cloonyish some might say,

That shot of South Point through the trees is awesome.

Wish I was there.

Great pics, must have been a big swell to get meelup cranking.. Once seen an 8ft mako get caught out from meelup boat ramp, as they were trying to bring it in, with a rope tied around its tail and a 4wd dragging it up the boat ramp it was thrashing and biting the edge of the concrete boat ramp, scary Yup ,making me home sick seen shots of the south west. Oliver the spots in the pic are of some of (if not) the best surf region in Australia, Margaret River By the way guys we have 10acres with a house for sale in between Margies and Augusta, right near the awesome karri forest and the classic beach break Boranup If any one is keen to buy, hit me up

In all the years I have travelled down south it was the biggest I had seen Meelup. It is usually like a lake even when a big swell is running. It was being ridden from right out on the point. These photo's are actually from July 08. I think they called it the 7 year storm. Only happens about every 7 years. Yallingup and North point were awesome. Margarets would have been a sight.

More than likely blown out just by looking at all the whitecaps in the background?

Aww now thats teasing. We have to get through summer before we see that sort of swell happen again.
Great picks but. Would love to have seen Bears on those days.

I stand corrected, (I'm actually sitting down but whatever) Fester.
Obviously Meelup works far more often than I thought.
Anyway it was worth it to see those great shots.
I love the little peeler moving down Piquet Point.
Once you would have watched it and surfed it in your mind.
Now you can take the SUB out and actually surf it.
Priceless.

I'm heading down to "sunny" Albany over xmas if anyone else is down that way and wants to catch up for a wave. With wife, kid, dog etc in tow there might be room left for you in the trailer if you want Thelma, I mean Windy.
