coming home i checked the charts. one green arrow by its self. texted my mate.
'it's on, it's blowing'. wind just came up mid afternoon. he cancelled a job and away we went from kirra to the alley.
there was bugger all swell.as good as the goldie gets. i was standing no further forward than about two feet from the handle and stalling the board to stay with the crests.
yep, surfing the whole way.
on a personal note my gerry lopez 14' was just ripping. its got a dishy nose, then very flat with a bit of tail rocker so the thing planes insane and so stable. my mate on his 17'4 bullet said it was as good as it gets for him and said that board must be fast because i was right with him- stoked.
jayden jensen went a touch earlier than us and kelly said he saw carla going past.
anyone else score this afternoon?
Sounds like it was prett good , hey JJ how about texting your favourite uncle when you going for a downwinder , scared ill leave you behind hey
I went with noel from broken to byron and we scored big time

Hopefully around 8-12 November wouldn't go astray. I think there would be people all over the country with their fingers crossed.

phil is right lacey..... the wind down here hasnt been under 35knts for days
the van and trailer were getting blown all over the road on monday (made for some scary moments behind the wheel) ive had to burn the seat covers
and trying to catch a wave with a solid offshore wind is not as easy as it looks from the warmth of the van with the heater cranking off the hook fogging up the windows
and lacey the downwinder crew down here are just like you ......freakin NUTS!!!!!!!!
hey dogman, its too f ing cold down there.
loving the tiger board

Hey Lacey,
Ha Ha we are talking Ocean, actually Southern Ocean ask the Dogmeister I think his view has changed just a little, his words were "the images just dont do it justice" remember this is the West Coast not Melbourne!
The swell he was surfing this week is about 1/2 to 2/3 what we ran the comp in couple weeks ago and gettting down the face is a bitch.
Just perfect practice for Currumbin in Nov NOT! :)
But apparently we will be doing stand up Flow Rider for a social day so thats more like it.

Woody are you suggesting that maybe "SOFT" is the appropriate term?
Kinda sounds like it.
But then:
Oh the water is cold
Oh I have to put on a wet suit
Oh theres a strong wind
Sounds like Oxford street talk.

I would just like to say that I know it's only August but I have been surfing Burleigh in My board shorts the last week. No wetsuit. How good is that. And let me add that many years ago I surfed in the North sea. Now that was cold. I would fall in and loose my lunch in 6 degree Cel. water. Oh well, I was a lot younger then. The good old days ?.
Wish these strong north winds would back off.. I need a rest day from downwinding.. Looks like a few more days before I get that rest day..

dj, we had had our own north run today. from kingscliff to hastings point. i took my 12'6 for a spin. it went pretty well but they don't get the links like a 14'. that foot and a half matters. the other guys said they were slower past cabarita where i felt the 12''6 actually went faster. it chopped up a bit more.
dale alain were clocking sub five minute k's when they read their garmens
Justin did today's Vicco run in board shorts. Insane.
My Garmin logged 5.30's average over the 12km run. Justin was about the same. We were on 14' Aces. Heath killed us on a 12'6". His fastest km was well under 4 minutes.
Kristi did yesterdays smokin downwider in her Sweet Waterwear gear and came back totally dry, Dogman was in a 4/3 West probably should have been a 5/4 I thought the diff was gone in the van but it turned out to be Dogmans teeth chattering :)
