Far out DJ !!! Was that the strongest wind so far in your experience ?

The acceleration looks amazing on the gusts , I may have to make the journey and try that one day .

Cheers

The "tripod" does give a good camera angle. It's such a pity that all the good footage is on the bottom of the Bay somewhere. Some of those massive runners we got yesterday would have looked great.

Hey DJ

Slighty off topic. What brand and where did you get your hydration pack that's around your waist. I can't find the right one.

Looks like it was a lot of fun yesterday, really disappointed I couldn't make.

Hi Mark..it's from Kathmandu..I bought it about a year ago.. I've not seen them lately in my local shop.

I was at the Kathmandu shop in Ringwood the other day and they had the Camelbac bumbag type for 49 dollars reduced from 69.. They are also very good.

No I've had stronger.. The day I lost my 17' Glide in the middle of the bay it was gusting over 55 knots.. I've had a few other days that were stronger.. But still.. It was easy 30-40 knots and we got hit with some gusts that would make small rocks fly and I even saw a couple of whirly-whirly spinning water spray things going across the water in front of me.. I've not seen them before.. When it gets super-duper strong you get a smoke like thing going on across the surface of the water.. Even when sitting down on your board you get blown over.. and even if you can point yourself dead down wind you get blown over.. end over end.. You, board and all. Like a cart wheel.. I'll catch one of these gusts on film one day.. Cam and I were saying after that with these super light paddles (his Ke Nalu and my Toro) it is sometimes hard when swapping sides in super strong winds because the wind catches the paddle so much that you often miss the top of your paddle with your top hand when you swap hands.
