My guess, and I hope I am wrong, is that the organisers will find the meanest nastiest onshore rip bowl at Woolamai and press the go button.
Now I am a fan of the rip bowl on my shorty at all times and on my SUP when the wind allows but at this point Saturday looks the too hard basket as far as onshore Stand Up. Again, hope I am wrong but it does not look like being a showcase for Stand Up.
On the flip side, its a comp and we all have to surf the same sh.t. Could be bloody humorous!!!!
Cheers

Well done to all the winners, it was a terrific display of gritty surfing in adverse conditions
This was a straw poll that I conducted at the State Titles yesterday, the question was, "what do you think about holding the titles in these atrocious conditions?" the answer is as shown.....
A rain storm hit at the same time my heat started, I think even the organizers closed shop and ran for cover, looking out on the beach, thinking where can i go, Mick and John T went out on a left? I paddlled out to a right hander? couldn't stand up, the rip suckin' me straight into the impact zone, got cleaned up, held down a couple of times, thought this is too effyn dangerous, I dont want to drown, glad my leg rope stayed attached, I gave up..., no way am I competing again in an event where the organizers have no effyn idea of what is required to stage a "stand up paddle board event", the whole thing was an absolute negative farce but however, testament to the positive spirit of the Victorian Sup community that was there yesterday.
I think there are a whole lotta Victorian Suppers that are envious of the way the NSW State Title organizers treated their sup community with the respect that was shown at their event held this weekend, this has raised the bar how an event should be run.
There has to be changes made in Victoria to the way things are done.... the line is in the sand
great photos Phil , the pics make it look like fun. When in fact if anyone thought that was fun then they are quite possibly off their rocker .
I went and had a look yesterday for 10 minutes or so . The conditions where so bad it was a no brainer , go surfing or go take my chances doing home duties ? Its not often the home duties option looks the pick !!! .
Firstly, Ive competed in a lot of different sports over the years, Ive never met a more genuine, honest, robust and 'all-round fun' crew.
I'm glad to be getting to know you all..
Secondly,Congratulations to all the State representatives 2013! You all earn't it!! GO VICTORIA!
If I take anything, out of that washing machine, we surfed on saturday its this; SUP riders aren't soft we all worked harder than anyone out there.
Only we understand this.. MJ, I had a really solid work-out through that right too.. It was relentless. You're right it was dangerous. This is where the prone guys are just oblivious to the huge demands a massive board and a paddle make in those conditions.
Ive had prone guys say" Oh but its easier on a SUP in big waves, you can catch the wave earlier" Yeah right! After that it all goes down hill..!
After much debate,I think Phil was right,we did the right thing paddling out after all. It was the 'Alamo' we had no real choice.
However! that said.....THAT IS FN IT! .....time to stand up and take control! We need to lead the way in competition SUP.As I said on the weekend
"We don't have to surf **** waves"! And we won't!
Series competitions for state selections with windows(shifting dates)
Im not sure who vowed never to compete again? I hear ya... But don't bail out on us..Please!
Its a new day.
PS Thanks again for bringing the rashy down for me Sparks.. You're a champ bro.
Aloha all
Courtney
