Hi All,
Just to let you know the C4 Vortice Xp's are in the country, limited numbers.

That's great...Any idea how much they will be..Are they available in most citys..and is there an additional freight cost?
BTW...Why are C4 not being sold in Aussie shops?...Everyone knows they're a good brand.

I wonder why C4 are not serious about selling boards or paddles down under?
At least that's the impression I get.. ..It just seems a bit odd.

Where can I find at a Stendy in Melbourne? Most airlines don't take anything over two meters in length and this sounds like it would be a good paddle to travel with my ULI.
For that matter C4 make some really good boards, we need to see some in Melbourne. When can we expect some product down south?
Oliver my friend,
A packaged Stendy is only 1.7m.
TNT overnight express to Melbourne will be $45.
Cheers
Simon
Thanks for that Simon. I was aware you sold them and I'll probably end up buying one from you, however, I'd really prefer to hold one and check out it's construction before I splash out.
Thank you so much Koka for meeting me today so I could pick up my new Vortice XP. It's a great looking board and I haven't been this excited since Santa gave me my first bike. And thanks for your advice on applying the Deckpad, helping me purchase the right fin and most importantly for tying it on to my car correctly and safely for the 2 hours drive home. It only slipped back about 10cm. Slippery little sucker. I look forward to receiving my deckpad tomorrow, applying it and the fin and getting out there. In the words of C4...Mahalo !!
Hey Sue,
What fin did you end up getting? Watch out for that deckpad it is known to be a favourite delicasee with the dogs......
Hi Simon,
Todd helped me out with getting a "Future Fin 9". I didn't realise the fins had to be American standard not an Aussie one. I guess that makes sense seeing they are manufacturered in Hawaii.
I'm keeping my eye out for the post man today delivering my Deck Pad. I have no dogs to tear it up but I will tie up my two cats just in case they like eating Deckpads too.
Koka..maybe you could help me out here cause I'm not techo at this stuff ?? Apparently the box is wider on the Vortice and any Australia fin wouldn't fit?? Is that right?? NewcastleSUP may offer some info here too as he knows C4 also. Sorry guys..
Sue... Just wondering..Is this like the fin that you got with the board.. or is yours more upright and maybe shorter ?
DJ
That's odd... It looks like a normal surf fin.
One good thing about surf fins is that you can drag them along the sand..
But I thought they came with the fin that I showed ?
It will be interesting to see if the board tracks straight with that small'ish (imo) fin.
DJ
Hey Sue,
I started off with a smaller fin like yours on my board as C4 Aust didn't have the 11 inch Boardworks fin which DJ showed in his post. Once I got the larger fin it made a huge difference tracking in a straight line paddling, and even more so in being able to steer easily when you are on a wave. If you can get one from C4 it is definitely worth it.
After Saturday's paddle which was 1/3 downwind and 2/3 crosswind, I'm sure a rudder system would have helped a lot.. and some more paddle training
FYI Vortice fans...I just received an email back from Todd Bradley saying the fin I have that Koka organised for me is fine. Now go back to work !!!!!
Don't be silly DJ, that's the top of the 'inboard' refreshment device Just lay down when you get thirsty
wow
that is a nice looking weapon of distance destruction!!!
so whats the reason behind not getting the fin with the board it just sounds a bit odd?
There's a bit of discussion about fins for downwind runs and the vortice here: www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php?topic=1862.0
Looks like everyone is still figuring it out, best thing is to get out there and see how they work for you and the board/paddle/conditions ???
From what I've seen they all tend to be going for a more 'pointer' style of fin.. Pretty upright and fairly deep.
I wonder what fin boxes these boards use.. Tuttle box / Power box ???
DJ
HI DJ,
Those boards have rudder systems on them with a central long pin going through to the deck to connect the cables.
Even without the steering system there isn't the need for anything more than a standard US box setup. No where near the lateral forces on a fin that you get on a windsurfer.
Sue... How about an update on your new Vortice.
How's the board going.. Is the deck grip on... and what is that funny aerial thing at the front of the board ?
DJ
I was lucky enough to get to have a short little play on this beast - Looks much better in person.
DJ are you serious about the areial? It is a moulded board so that is the vent so it doesn't pop its seams.
How come I've not seen it on other Vortice's in pics?
I think this is a newer model - Vortice XP Pro - I don't think there are many out yet? Might have to check with Aussie Wahine about that one
