I was down the river this morning and pleasantly surprised how good the direction of the wind was, so given this:
Is anyone interested in either of these options tomorrow? Woodies to Rockingham is about 15km and the river run would be about 8km.
Would be good to get on the water early to make the most of the wind.
What time are yo thinking Cam? I must have just missed you this morning, I was down at Zephrs at 0630 - did the 1000m course.
I had a lesson at Point Walter at 9 so had a nice sleep in, almost ended up down at zephyr's though with the wind.
I'm thinking be on the water around 7:30 so a 7 meeting time and be all done and dusted by 9 if doing the river run.
Reckon I'd could be up for either option, haven't done much down winding or serious paddling lately so will def be off the pace but hey I'll get there eventually.
What time are you thinking Hilly and what course, something like Woodies to Rocky?
Sounds like there will be a paddle or two somewhere tomoz just gotta nail down some times and locations.
Meet point Walter 6:45 to leave at 7, be on the water at the narrows by 7:30. If wind isn't quite right we can figure something out from point Walter.
Kent you can do the river run, finish up then head down for a run in Rocky.
Geez Cam I said I haven't done much paddling lately so now you want me to start catching up.
Not sure about the double but will catch you at Point Walter 6.45ish, it won't be cold will it.
Hilly had good practice today. We surfed a beachie and he used the14. I estimate he had 40 waves at an average of 200m a wave, so he surfed 8k and paddled back out so another 8 k.
Sounds better than my practice, I surfed (hung around) at Mett's for a couple of hours, 1 x 20metre ride every 15 minutes = about 160 metres.
Oh and a paddle to Triggs and back when I got bored, was a nice sunset on the way back though.
It was more of a wind assisted paddle than a full down winder. Not flat out paddling but a nice cruise. Having said that there were a few little runs but nothing like what the river can deal up.
Still a great morning though esp for winter, a nice way to start the day and a great wind direction, good call Cam.
Saw the new Coreban boards today. Nice, even a board with a nose flip rather than cutter bow:) The Dart looked the pick. Darren was impressed so may see him on a Coreban next week at the time trial.
I saw Darrens car out the front of the shop on the way home this morning so called in and had a look at the dart, fairly wide right through, (from memory 29 7/8) and it carries it a fair way forward but it looks like it would be a nice stable, surfable, downwind board.
