Hey Guys, I am wanting to take my ipod out SUPing.
What inexpensive solutions have you got for keeping it water free, and carrying it I guess.
Cheers
Paul
Thanks KiaKaha,
Guess at this stage I thinking more of one of the waterproof mobile phone pouches, with maybe some w/proof earphones siliconed into one end..
Cheap Cheap..
But maybe I will regret..
Cheers
Hey Pauloz,
Thought the same thing as you (the cheap option). Last week I went out surfing with it then looked at the waterproof bag only to see it half full of water and my mobile floating inside it.
Thanks Oliver,,
Guess I am thinking of flat water cruising :).
I reckon "surfing"was the killer criteria for you.
But point taken..
Cheers
I've been using my iPod for a while now on those long paddles by myself..I love my music.
I bought one of these a while ago and when I get my Naish Glide I will put deck plugs in it so I can mount it on the deck in front of me..
It sounds great..and comes with straps so you can wear it like a back pack..The guys down at St Kilda pier will freak as I paddle past with my music blairing.
Exactly what you're after will be in the Seabreeze Shop in a week or so .. a pouch, including waterproof headphones will be around $65 + P&P...
These are good also www.otterbox.com/en-us/apple-ipod-touch--6--apple-ipod-touch-5th-gen/defender-series-case/77-25219.html
I have the old nano version with arm band and it's not failed me yet.
This is the H2O Audio Waterproof Headset that holds an Ipod Shuffle. Cost US$79.00. Fantastic when paddling distance. Not sure about surfing when you wipe out. It does float. Maybe you could tie a head toggle onto it so you don't lose it. www.h2oaudio.com
Thanks for posting that Sue.. it's exactly what I'm looking for..
How the C4 Vortice going?.. Been out much?
DJ
Hey DJ...I haven't been on the Vortice since the race as I'm still recovering from it. Though I was on it every day leading up to last weekend. You would love the headphones. I wore them throughout the whole race on Saturday. It really helped and made it much more enjoyable. I just kept the volume down so I could still hear the commands from the escort boat. You can buy them direct off the H2O Audio site.
Hey Champ...Danny actually bought mine back from Hawaii last week but you can get them off the H2O site for the same price he paid. Really worth buying IMO.
Hey sue,
They look great, i think it will have to be my xmas pressie from jacko LOL. I've been using a cheaper mp3 player, scored it for $20 and i just use it in flat water.
I love distance supin to tunes!

Kind of related to this thread is how to keep ones phone dry. A cheap and easy method I use is simply to unroll a condom over my phone and tie a knot in the end. This will provide a waterproof barrier and you can use the keypad, hear the speaker and read the screen on most candy-bar type phones. Though it may not work so well with clamshell type phones.
I think (though have not tried) this method could also work for iPods by incoporating the earphone cord into the knot. At the very least your ears won't get pregnant
My H2O's have been great and I've used them the last few days.
I showed the guys at SHQ yesterday and they're getting some in.
The only problem with listening to your favorite music while you paddle is that if you try and sing along you get puffed out if you're paddling hard.

I ordered one of those water proof pouches from the Seabreeze shop....I will let you know how they go...there is one for the old mp3
