A little while ago I posted about downwind fins.

Being a noob at the fine art of downwinding I was really happy with all the responses and I got better fins to use.

Thanks Aidan from Windgenuity.

AA from Balmoral Boards sent me a wavegrinder fin to try as well, thanks. I have been really slack in trying it as the surf has been pumping and there has been no wind

Finally tried it on the weekend with a little light wind paddle with Belly Hillaries to Trigg.

+ seemed to be fast really lifted on to tiny runners (even pulled away from Belly but not sure if he was trying with his new QB Elite niiiice!!)
+ Tracked well for a tiny fin no yaw which I was expecting
+ Seemed to surf ok

- caught weed big time.

Looks small

Flexy too

More info here wavegrinder.com/

Overall heaps of potential I would like to see a bigger version for downwinders I think it would really lift you on to the plane.

Nice bike, I had KTMs for a while MX two strokes.

That looks like some windsurfing fins that I saw the other day, never seen them before. Would they create alot of drag?

No drag seemed quick unless dragging weed which was an issue

Plenty out where you were tho, in clean conditions it would be ok.

Looks good - someone was running one of these on a 12' PSH gun for the race during the Snowy.

I'm doing a retro to a used windsurfer fin atm (pencil line is what I'm trimming the tip to) similar to what I was banging on about but the leading edge is not as straight as I was hoping.

Not sure windsurfer slalom fins are the way to go as they are designed for high speed not really what we are doing on a downwind run.

Found the surf style fin much better than the stock slalom style fin in the 14 glide

@ CrAzY, that fin has a nice foil, if you could get one similar but maybe shorter, have you tried it yet?

Haven't tried it yet board gets here (well to windsurf'n snow) tomorrow, I had an option of a shorter one (28cm) and a longer one (33) so I went for the one in the middle. I doubt someone will buy the smaller one so I can always have a go at that one if I like the fin and how it works, their used fins so there not too pricy.

As for it being a slalom fin, I picked it because it uses foil shape and template that are similar to shapes that have shown their worth in other areas (some that go fast and some that go slow). In the end of the day just because it says slalom on it doesn't bug me if I'd had wet rubbed it off the logo not many people other than Sam would know where it was from. The fins I like the most of the ones I've seen are all produced by companies that produce good windsurfing fins........

I love fins made of G10. The foil lines are amazing. Really shows good foiling. This kind of precision is pretty much only from CNC foils which are amazing when you add NASA database foils etc etc.

Check the fin below. Not much good for SUP but freaky as part of a Tow fin set. I love the foil lines and the clear over black panel looks sick.
