I Decided on 11 foot by 30 in , Mal style , I Bought a rectangular block of SL Polystyrene and Terry (trimaran) Vosper has shaped it for me after putting in a thin stringer , we glassed the rails with 2 layers of 6oz glass(epoxy of course) and will try to vacuum bag the wood veneer over 2 oz glass tomorrow. I have added some photos of where we are at . Lats
Hey latman, have a look at these photos from DW's blog showing the use of a rocker table to overcome the problem you are having with maintaining the rocker while you vacuum bag.
I've also seen photos of a rocker jig being put inside the bag with the board so that the vacuum holds the board to the jig - just couldn't find them.

Lats, all you have to do now is make yourself a carbon paddle and your away.
Good to see you getting in to it.

To Jonathon , by having glass on the rails and a thin stringer we should be alright without a "rocker table" . I would have one if i was doing boards more often.
To Wazza , I have made a carbon padle up already from one of my tapered carbon/glass shafts and a Carbon Kialoa (outrigger) blade and timber t-top handle. Heather has been using it with a Bamboo/Glass tropical blends 10'6 board I got from Grant few weeks ago. I am making another paddle at the moment with a smaller laminated timber blade and palmgrip handle glued into the same type of carbon/glass tapered shaft.
Board Update We Vacuum bagged the veneers onto the blank, top and bottom today (fast epoxy ) and next week I will get Vozzo to glass the outsides of it and fit the different plugs and boxes needed. Lats
Great post lats, the kind of stuff I love to see on here. Make sure you show us the finish project. Maybe it could be the stealth bomber or SR-71.
Will get more pics of that paddle also, been too busy to complete.
