Allowing access to Wedge has really damaged the place. A party of 300 which ended in a murder is just insane. That crap belongs in Sydney or Melbourne burbs if not anywhere! My cousin has written her story about Wedge. The good old days the way I remember it. Enjoy http://wedgewa.com.au/new/wedge-tales/16-my-wedge-story-by-rachael-dawe
sounds like it was an awesome spot. why do d#@k heads always f#%k up the fun? hope the fun returns to wedge.
Similar spot at Mainbar in Port hacking and Australia day is always big there, usually 6-10 cops with dirt bikes, 4x4 patroling + the water police on jet skis and boats.
"That crap belongs in Sydney or Melbourne burbs if not anywhere!"
Really!! you think that.... wow
I wasn't trying to say that a party resulting in murder should happen. My mistake. What I meant to say was that this is the kinda stuff we see on the news in big capitol cities, not in isolated fishing communities. I could have used New York or Washington as an example but was using Aussie cities just to keep it close to home. Anywho... recently a sealed highway went past wedge with a road to the shacks. Getting there took about an hour of slow driving along either the beach or by tracks behind the dunes.
Your cousins article is a good read .
Wedge looks look a great spot and should be left to those who have grown up there.
Reminds me of the shacks down at Era in the Royal Nat park in Sydney. The difference is it's a good hike there , so it keeps the riff raff away. Access (or lack there of) is the key.
It is a shame that it is happening every where, we use to have an event called the Putt Putt regatta - all old timber boats, a couple of steam boats as well, start at cronulla and cruise up to audley in the royal nat park.
any way- the younger gen found out how good a day it was and would bring alloy party pontoon's with generators and DJ decks and tower speakers, eventually there was a punch up and now the event no more..... its now held as a boat show at the motor boat club
this is from last years aus day

It just seams more and more that "the few" ruin it for all...
Hope there is a way we could all get along... there is to much anger in the world
Senseless violence from a few always seem to ruin it for the majority nowadays....its unfortunate but it seems to becoming a more regular occurrence.I am no expert at what needs to be done but maybe tougher laws and longer sentences concerning physical violence against innocent victims, advertising campaigns not only warning of the consequences against violent perpetrators but also embarrassing the thugs about their inability to handle alcohol may help, but realistically if people took more responsibilty for their own actions society may be a safer place for all.
Have had a shack there for over twenty years we just don't go there now around New Years with very little police control its just like Mad Max the local police have to come from Jurien bay and Cervantes so they are way under done .
The right time of year you can still get some of these all to your self ,
At them moment I am just watching a 4 meter swell trying to get round the point it's out there and it's blowing 25 knts plus but off shore and protected any ideas Seabreeze crew
Here's a small hint happy surfing crew
Yes I know it's up side down just makes it a bit harder to work out
Denmark. Nice day for it.
Drive around a bit and you'll find wind and waves. Ocean beach is always a little tricky.
