That's the worst case of small car syndrome I've seen I reckon.

Go a little wider and you can fit even more on. My Corolla got everything 5,300km from Sydney to Perth via Great Ocean Road - a 14', a 17' and a 21' oc1.

That is my mate and co-pilot Paul facing the camera btw.

Also lucky you didn't get pinged by some over zealous cop, max legal overhang is 1200mm at the back.

Don't know what you are supposed to do with a ski on the roof ????

Love the setup

Maybe but I've been doing it for 5 years now - touch wood. Surprisingly we only saw one cop all trip but I think that was because they're more interested in catching truckies at night. Not much traffic on the Nullabor in Winter. Fantastic trip but way too cold at the time to paddle in the southern ocean unfortunately. What's with the "Stop Creeping" signs?

Sometimes we felt like an Indo family! Look closely at how much gear was stacked up in the back - it was like Tetris in there. Until we had to brake for that roo.

I thought I would check the legal requirements. At least in NSW, where I started, it is ok to go longer if it is red flagged so it looks like 12.5m unlimited boards have a green light - any shapers out there?

Excerpt:

Warning devices for projecting loads or equipment ??? light vehicles
A light vehicle, or a light vehicle and trailer combination, may have a rear projection exceeding 1.2 metres if the overall length of the vehicle or combination, together with the loading or equipment on it, is within the relevant limits fixed by the Regulation i.e.
??? 12.5 metres in the case of a light vehicle
??? 19.0 metres in the case of a light vehicle and trailer combination.
If the rear projection is greater than 1.2 metres, the rear of the load or equipment must have attached a brightly coloured flag or piece of material not less than 300 mm square. In addition to the flag, when travelling at night or in adverse weather conditions that restrict visibility, a red light or at least two red reflectors must be attached:
??? the red light needs to be seen for 200 metres
??? the reflectors need to be capable of projecting a red reflection of light.
These requirements also apply to any load or equipment that projects less than 1.2 metres if it projects in such a way that it is not readily visible to a person following immediately behind the vehicle.

I think he just ran into the telegraph pole an it has fallen on his roof, the white thing at the end is a penguin coming out of its roosting nest.
