Hi my wife has the bug after trying my SUP.

Looking on advive for board length width and volume for her as a beginner.

She is 170cm weighs 80kg complete beginner and wants to eventually catch small waves.

Many thanks

I'd suggest her board being one that would work in your quiver

This is exactly what I would do lol :) , or depending on what you ride give her your board and upgrade your own board, then you can say the old- theres no point buying a new board honey, your only going to wreck your first board everyone does, thats why everyone starts of on an old board first, this way even tho your lying your not really because its true ;) .

Thirded. Complicated though...wife is 14" shorter and 50kg lighter than me, but we figured it out.

4 hours and no response from DJ.
He must be on his way to Merimbula.
So if you'll all permit me...

Naish Nalu 10'6" x 28 1/4" GT

Or Naish nalu 10'10"

Look no further...

Yes.. I'm away.. I agree about the 10'6" and 10"10" Nalu.. With the 10'10" being the better choice IMO.

btw.. I think the new 10'6" is 30" wide..

Just done / doing this exercise for 15 year old daughter rather than wife, but at 5' 8" and 55kg similar thing
Without pimpimg brands or retailers, discussion with trusted retailor who has sold me a couple of boards raised a couple of important issues
She has to be able to carry it.
If you are going no where near surf in the foreseeable future, and or only want to ride small shore break stuff, don't buy a surf board
She has to be able to carry it

Couple of years old carbon race board

She is looking at an Ocean critters 9'8" x 32"

Nice package deal for about $1000 all in.

Zebra wood deck etc.

Should do for her to wobble about on.

I'm a similar build to your wife. I have a sunny king 10'6' /29" that I love and one of the (many) reasons I chose this one was I needed a board I could get on & off my car by myself. It's also pretty I also got to try a Hobie, it was the Venture 10.4, last weekend & loved it! Was a great board for stability & glide. Tried to get my husband to buy it so I could "borrow" it sometimes but he has his eyes on a couple of others!

So my wife decided on the ocean critters board. Looks good to me for the price.

I did have a go and managed to paddle around the marina with the board 4cm underwater. (Fat git)

Defo too small for me. But she is enjoying her first ever board sport which is good enough for me.
