These ones....obviously keen surfers....were in Sandy Bay Tutukaka coast north of Whangarei
This one cruising happily along the Rangitoto Channel the north shore of Auckland
Apparently the local surfers weren't worried enough to get out of the water.
Of course the big "not so cute" surf story was the guy whose face got impaled by a surfboard

great snaps Gizzie!!
"yeah no worries orcy you take this one" "and this one and this one" "
" I think I might just paddle in now " !!!!
OMFG!!!
ahhhh I cut me teeth surfing sandy bay, great spot on its day. Never seen Orcas in the surf before they would scare the crap out of me if they popped up in the lineup
Amazing photos! Thanks for sharing!
I reckon I would be heading for the beach at full speed if I saw one of those (and looking for a fresh pair of undies!)
Gizzie,
Amazing!
Are they your photos?
Did you see them?
They say we only get 13 recorded sightings of Orca's per year in Aussie waters. But you get them a bit more over there don't you?
I haven't seen an Orca in the wild yet, but it's on my Bucket List!
Great shots , watched a doco a liitle while ago about some poor orca in captivity that had killed i think three trainers , it now wallows in a small pool living out its last days.
Very sad humans feel the need to capture and imprison these types of animals for our so called entertainment.I find it interesting that orcas dorsal fins in captivity flop to the side and in the wild they stand tall and strong.Thats got to tell you something, i think.
