I always had a soft spot for Big Wednesday.

What are your favorites? I want to put together a movie night sometime before summer.

You hit the nail on the head Oliver with 'Big Wednesday'...

I love this scene at the begining of the movie.

I also liked Morning of the Earth for it's arty/hypnotic aussie inspired effects, it's been a long time since I saw it though.

And puberty blues, even though it wasn't strictly a surfing movie.

I thought about Casso after I watched that clip - pretty different now down/up that way. In the 70's pretty much anyone could buy a house right on the beach.

Oliver I'll have to lend you my latest favorite surfing movie.

OneCaliforinDay... www.onecaliforniaday.com/

Check out this trailer.. I was so disappointed that the song in the trailer (Finding my way by Rush) was not in the finished film.

Hey Oli, do you mean the SuckerCam close ups of Matt Johnson's fancy footwork or Leroy's harrasment of the cute girls on the beach?

Oh ... yeah, I do - but I think Puberty Blues was filmed around the Cronulla area.

Just watched "Morning of the Earth" last night - what a great movie. I've got Riding Giants and Endless Summer on cue for tonight. I'll save Big Wednesday and Bra Boys for another night.

Live looks good DJ, would also love to see some more of those 70s movies as well.

George greenough, the original tube riding movie. George straps a camera to his back and shoots film from inside the tube looking out.

I've been having a bit of a marathon on the surf movies of late and if you haven't seen One Californian Day... as Molly Meldrum would say "do yourself a favour". It's basically a series of life stories from surfers/shapers who live on the Californian Coast and their passion for the sport and their stretch of coastline - great soundtrack also which helps.

After watching it I'd really love to travel the Californian coast one day.
