just a few photos of the new mount i designed and had my dad build at his work, was inspired by dj's mount but didn't really want something that big, it's steel so it's a little heavy but we'll see how it goes. the first pic is the view from the mount, would probably tilt it up a tad the rest are of the mount

Nice innovation.
The base looks like the centre piece of the surf mount.
Are you just relying on adhesive for the base or have you got an FCS plug fitted underneath ?
I got a price off a local board repair guys of $60 for an FCS plug to be fitted to my Sup - sounds good to me.

its one of the new smaller mounts for surfboards, i will tie it to my board, and maybe tie a 1l water bottle or something extra around it so it will float somewhat if i still manage to loose it, which i hopo i wont

Yeh, I noticed the Floaty back door attached just in case things don't go to plan.
The mount seems to be a fair way down the board. You don't think closer to the nose is a better view ?

i would've put it further up the board but the board starts flat and starts to curve upwards so the mount wouldn't sit flat, it would've been better if i had it a bit further towards the nose, yeah got the floaty back door on but i'l still add a little extra something for more floaty and strap it to the board cause the mounts a little on the heavy side

This was designed by the one and only "Greenroom".

Its made from a $8 Supacheap Auto dent puller and 2 x $2 fishing floats.

It has only ever come off twice in heavy surf at Bells but floated and was easy to recover with the orange floats.

Things to know:
In solid wipe outs the floats can crack and fill with water has happened once to us.
The surface has to be flat and clean, check how well it is clamped on before you go out

You need to wd40 the working parts every time
Depending on the weight of the clamp you get at up to 2 more fishing floats.

So far for us it has been bullet proof.

Thanks for sharing Greenie.

yeah i did hear about dj's mount,
i only plan to use this on my 17foot glide for some downwinders or flat water paddling, not surf,so im not really worried about it coming off, i'll still be attaching it to my board but i reackon i might grab a couple of those floats just in case
