Yeh on our dark morning training session this morning, i said to the guys, "holy crap did you see that crazy lighting?"
After that we all noticed the lighting storm down south bit further. Glad it didn't come up our way whilist training in creek this morning. Would've be race boards going everywhere!
Within 1 hour we had clear blue skies! Crazy that it was only 50min down the road and we got nothing.

the shots are taken from above the bream hole.ive got a ten shot sequence from when it formed straight out in front until it hit the town.it went from a water spout to what ever it was when it hit land in about 30 sec.soon as it hit land there was houses just getting blown apart.
Glad to hear you are OK, Noel. Where do you want me to send that QLD State of Origin jumper to now that you are an adopted Queenslander?

thanks mate .yeah theres a few families got hit hard.
Just saw the destruction on the news , unbelievable that that no one was killed total freak of nature. Lennox has been declared a disaster zone. My brother has a place there which thankfully got spared.
If you want some help to put on a fund raising surfing comp Noel there will be plenty of us who will fully support it and help out.
Rob
Crazy! Glad to hear there was no serious injuries.
(except the PUB will be closed for a while! ).
I was in the car all day and reports in Melbourne this morning were that a tornado hit
Lennox that developed over water. I kept yelling at the radio saying it's called a water
spout.
Then this afternoon they started calling it a water spout which made me feel like they
had now done some research.
Then Ward Rooney (the most senior forecaster at BOM) came on the radio tonight and
said they were tracking it and it was a tornado that actually formed inland and made
it's way to the coast before touching down and then did a U-turn.
Guess it doesn't really matter what you call it, it was gnarly!
im no weather guru but this thing started between my place and the piont as the photos show and went stupid from there
