that part of the mets is littered with towering N.Heads about 1ft under the surface...i used to stand up over this part paddling out,,,,until i fell in backwards and laNded on one...unfortunatley the bone refered to as the 'monkeys tail' in my lower back took the brunt of the fall...

ok we paddle out to that Reef bomby next time eh greeny??? ha ha it only looks about 5km's out....just on the edge of the humpback highway / great white freeway

should we tap gazza up for a bit of reef action in the morn?

Great pictures Windy M... Congrats on the new Kialoa Shaka Pu'u paddle... You're gunna love it I'm sure..

The Kialoa Shaka and your old Naish paddle are like chalk and cheese.. There's no need to grunt it through the water.

The Shaka is nore about finesse and cadence.

You may find it flutters a little at first because you're pushing it too hard.. Just back off a smidge and after you're used to it you wont get any flutter.

Let us know what you think... You will probably change your paddling technique slightly with the new paddle.

Every time I use mine I think about how much I love it...

going to pop th 'pu's cherry in the morn cant wait...

yeah , defo on the chalk n cheeze.. the shaft of the homemade paddle is the top end of a pre peg carbon skinny windsurf mast = no flex what so ever, but it does have INCREDiBLE power + the naish blade on it has a lot more area...it's gonna feel weird ...

so with the finesse and cadence, are we talking increase the stokes and maybe don't dip the whole blade in when powering up for a wave????

Yeah... I think so... but dippin' the whole blade is ok.

I used to like that big Naish blade for the grunt.. Just stick it in and pull with all your mite.. Your body will hate you for it down the track tho.

It's hard to explain the difference... It's best not to think too much... Just paddle.. You'll see..
