you could be right there. but it might be one of those boards where it is hard to define where the back foot goes. you and me and 10 other guys might have different sweet spots with this type of design.

i'll most likely put in a tail block when i'm settled

cheers

Hey Mark... I picked that board up this morning and was super surprised by how light it was. It also didn't look 9'4 for sure.

Felt good with nice rail outline and fin placements. Didn't see the fins that accompany the board, what are your thoughts?

After seeing your name on it ,I said to Ang that it won't be long till it is back on the rack for sale in the secondhand board section

Sick stick dude.

well i finally found the dollars to get the board out of the shop and took it for a paddle in some slightly onshore average surf that was kinda falling over a bit.

first up at my weight , 78 to 80 kg it sits in the water nicely, not corky at all. paddles pretty fast and lively. when a rail goes under it comes up and the board keeps moving along. it doesn't bog down. rides through white water easily. probably due to its fine pulled in nose. i felt really comfortable on the board and it doesn't feel anywhere like a 9'4.

ok thats out of the road.

man this board really catches waves. paddles on really fast. and it fast on the wave too.

holds a good high line on a steeper face as you turn back down- no feeling like its going to get caught up. the recon 9'4 is fast and responsive. no problems jamming speed or turning. again it doesn't feel like 9'4.
more like 8'8 or 8'6 is the way it rides to me . i'st a performance board for sure

i rode it as a quad and even thou i'm not usually not a quad man i'll probably leave it that way with the quality stock fins that come with the board. btw way the fins are a beautiful fit- no slop and cranking the grub screw really tight.

i'm going to put a few strips of deck grip to build a tail pad. i reckon right at the front of the back fins might be the spot. when i'm happy with the position i'll put on a tail kicker

every thing about the board has class written all over it.

fully sic board from sic
