Leave the Olympics as is, don't like how they tack on sports here and there, like tennis FFS

I'm so pissed off I'm not in England to watch the road race live
How good would it be to watch guys in Lycra ride past you

might as well wring the last bit of soul out of surfing.
been doing a little thinking about the new wave pools on their way to a suburb near you and i'm wondering wether they have really though about the safety aspect of these things? even if the pool bottom is covered in a soft coating it's gunna hurt if you get pile driven into the bottom? and the market focus is to get newbies into surfing, i can see carnage and law suits all over the place.
i've tried the flowrider at dreamworld a few times and was super sore after bouncing off the bottom for an hour and that surface is very soft and forgiving.

The Duke wanted surfing in The Olympics.

The Duke's Olympic record (swimming for USA);
1912 - Stockholm - Gold - 100m Free, and Silver in 4x200m Free.
1916 - Berlin - Games were obviously cancelled
1920 - Antwerp - 2 x Gold - 100m Free and 4x200m Free
1924 - Paris - Silver - 100m Free

There's little doubt he would have won Gold in Berlin. He was paddling heavy solid redwood boards in the surf for training!

Also in 1912 (Games of the 5th "V" Olympiad), Women competed in individual swimming races for the first time.
The Australian girls took out Gold & Silver.
Gold - Fanny Durack
Silver - Mini Wylie
(seriously, those names are not made up! )

If the Duke thought it was a good idea to include surfing at the Olympics, then that's good enough for me. The only thing better than surfing at the Olympics would be SUP racing at the Olympics.

Agree Woody, SUP Racing will get there too. Plus it would be easy to tack it onto Rowing & Kayak. Same river / same venue.

That's harsh on my 'local' member whom grew up on northside and now resides at southern highlands.

Surf life saving ran 2 carnivals, surfing wasn't an event. From memory I don't even think the carnival were officially Olympic events.
