dont crucify me for this but i really like it , i'm sure the paddle board gets a trashing but the alaia tube riding makes up for it

i love the vid cause i am currently shaping my own alaia from a tom wegener blank , lots of mess when you try doin it in a tiny kitchen unit ( my wife loves me heaps),
dont get me wrong i a sup freak thru and thru but hold an alaia in your hands and youll want one even just to hang on the wall .
the other main thing i love is its a blend of the 2 most extremes of surfing at the moment , the ancient and the new, they couldnt be more opposed styles and shows they can live harmoniously together if you want .
only problem is you need a whole break to yourself if you wanna try .

good on you for having a crack at it messup

i watched a handful of crew at ti tree noosa carving it up on the alaia boards

i recon its a cross between longboarding and riding a boogie board standing up

drawing a line from the rail and not from a fin setup

saw a dude pull one of the craziest "carving cutback into reverse 360 spin" right in the pocket i nearly fell into the water while hooting and clapping him after it

i had to paddle over and check out his sleek craft

and was totally blown away at it

Have to agree. Alaia's are so much fun and you can get so much glide out of them. I've found you can get through the flattest of sections with them and they are perfect for the little point waves we get here.

hi Keahi , i think that french dude riding sucky tubes like that on a alaia is a freak , i gather not so perfect waves is what the alaia excels in . i hope ?

the guy that i was talkin to had a valla board from valla beach NSW

just down the coast from me

yer filth sticks

i was showing a mate that lives here that vid and he was blown out at it and at the same time said to me dont you get any ideas of doing that as its bad enough me being out on a sup fullstop and bailing out a big board to launch onto the alaia was death for anyone else in the lineup
